HP 973X High Yield Cyan Original PageWide Cartridge (F6T81AE) is the genuine HP ink cartridge with 85.5 ml of pigment ink and an HP-rated yield of about 7,000 pages for offices running HP PageWide Pro 452, 477, 552 and 577 printers or the PageWide Managed P55250/P57750.
PageWide printers use a fixed page-wide print bar, so the cartridge carries only ink — print quality depends on the ink staying genuine and in date. The 973X is the high-yield size for these machines: one cartridge covers roughly 7,000 colour pages at ISO test coverage, which is why most fleets standardise on it rather than smaller packs.
Ordering by the exact part number (F6T81AE) is the safest route: HP uses similar names across printer families, and a supply that looks identical but carries a different number will not be recognised by the printer. If you are replacing a supply that is already installed, the part number is printed on its label and in the printer's supplies status page.
Original or compatible? A genuine HP supply is the one the printer and its colour profiles are calibrated for, it reports ink levels correctly, and it keeps the printer within HP's support terms. Compatible inks cost less up front but can shift colours, clog nozzles over time or be rejected after a firmware update — for business-critical printers, original is the lower-risk choice.

- Printers with HP Dynamic Security firmware may reject cloned or refilled 973X chips; this original HP cartridge is not affected.
- It does not replace the print bar: if streaks persist after cleaning, the printhead/print bar needs service, not new ink.
