The HP FH973AA is a 19 cm DisplayPort-to-DVI-D adapter that converts the DisplayPort output of an HP business desktop or workstation to a single-link DVI-D socket for older DVI monitors. The DisplayPort end latches into the PC, and HP states it supports all HP monitors with a single-link DVI input.

Compatibility note: Single-link DVI tops out at 1920 × 1200 at 60 Hz. It will not drive 2560 × 1440/1600 dual-link DVI monitors at native resolution, and DVI carries no audio.

Will the FH973AA run my 2560 × 1440 DVI monitor?
Only at reduced resolution. Monitors above 1920 × 1200 need dual-link DVI, which this single-link adapter does not provide; use the monitor DisplayPort input or an active dual-link adapter instead.
Does it work with non-HP PCs?
It uses standard DisplayPort and DVI-D connectors, so it generally works with other PCs and graphics cards that have a DisplayPort output; HP lists only its own systems as tested.
