HP ProDesk 2 Tower G1a — Ryzen 5 8500G Business Tower with Windows 11 Pro

AMD Ryzen 5 8500G16 GB DDR5512 GB NVMe SSDWindows 11 Pro

The HP ProDesk 2 Tower G1a E (B70XZAT) is a business tower desktop with an AMD Ryzen 5 8500G processor and Windows 11 Pro preinstalled, built for offices that want a dependable, ready-to-deploy PC for everyday business software.

This configuration ships with 16 GB of DDR5-5200 memory in a single module, a 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD, integrated AMD Radeon 740M graphics, Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5.4, a wired RJ-45 port, and an HP wired keyboard and mouse. HP lists 3-year next-business-day on-site hardware support for this part number.

What's in the Box

  • HP ProDesk 2 Tower G1a E desktop (B70XZAT) with 16 GB DDR5 and 512 GB SSD installed
  • Windows 11 Pro preinstalled
  • HP 125 v2 wired USB keyboard
  • HP 125 wired USB mouse
  • Power cable
  • HP documentation

What It Means in Practice

  • Six cores and twelve threads up to 5.0 GHz handle Office, Teams, browser-heavy work, accounting and ERP clients smoothly, with headroom for multitasking.
  • Windows 11 Pro is already installed, so the PC can join a domain or Microsoft Entra ID and be managed with the tools most IT departments already use.
  • Memory is a single 16 GB stick with one DIMM slot free: adding a matching 16 GB DDR5 module gives 32 GB in dual-channel, which also speeds up the integrated Radeon graphics.
  • Two monitors connect directly: one on DisplayPort 1.4a and one on HDMI 1.4b. For a 4K screen at 60 Hz use the DisplayPort output — HDMI 1.4b tops out at 4K 30 Hz.
  • The front panel carries the fast ports (1 × USB-C 5Gbps, 2 × USB-A 10Gbps, 2 × USB-A 5Gbps) plus a headset jack, while three rear USB 2.0 ports take the keyboard, mouse and printer.

What Will Not Work

  • There is no Thunderbolt or USB4, and HP lists the front USB-C port as a 5Gbps data port only, without video output.
  • A full-size gaming graphics card with external power connectors is not an option: the system runs on a 180 W internal power supply. Low-profile, slot-powered cards are the realistic upgrade — ask us before buying one.
  • Only one M.2 slot is available for storage (the second M.2 slot holds the Wi-Fi card); a second drive has to go in the single 3.5-inch bay.
  • This is the Ryzen 5 configuration — if you need 8 cores for heavier workloads, choose the Ryzen 7 8700G version instead.

Key Features

Ryzen 5 8500G

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add a graphics card?
There is a PCIe 4 x16 slot, but the 180 W internal supply rules out power-hungry cards. A low-profile or slot-powered card is the sensible choice — send us the card model and we will confirm it fits.
Which keyboard layout is supplied?
The HP 125 v2 keyboard has a QWERTY layout. If your users need Greek characters printed on the keys, ask us and we can supply a matching HP keyboard.
Is it suitable for Copilot and AI features?
Windows 11 Pro features run normally. HP does not list an NPU for the Ryzen 5 8500G on this configuration, so on-device AI features that require an NPU are not supported.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The B70XZAT is the ready-to-deploy choice in the ProDesk 2 Tower G1a line: Windows 11 Pro installed, a 6-core Ryzen 5 and HP-listed 3-year on-site support, at a price that suits large office rollouts. The first upgrade we recommend is a second 16 GB stick for dual-channel memory — see our memory range.
✓ Buy it if you want a Windows 11 Pro office tower for Office, ERP, accounting and video calls, ready on day one.
✕ Skip it if you need 8 cores, Thunderbolt, or a gaming-class graphics card.
→ Also consider the ProDesk 2 Tower G1a with Ryzen 7 8700G (FreeDOS) if you have your own Windows licences and want more cores.
