HP ScanJet Pro 2600 f1: flatbed flexibility with a duplex feeder for small offices
60-sheet ADFA4 flatbed 1200 dpi50 ipm duplex1,500 pages/day
The HP ScanJet Pro 2600 f1 is an A4 flatbed and ADF document scanner that scans both sides at 25 pages (50 images) per minute from a 60-sheet feeder and up to 1200 dpi on the flatbed, made for small offices that scan up to 1,500 pages a day and regularly handle IDs, books or delicate originals. It suits professional offices, schools and small businesses where the flatbed is used often and the feeder handles moderate daily stacks.
The single-pass duplex feeder handles everyday paperwork, while the A4 flatbed takes passports, bound pages and anything that should not pass through rollers. It connects over USB 2.0, measures 491.5 x 325.4 x 133.3 mm and includes HP Scan software with OCR to Word, Excel and searchable PDF. HP TWAIN 2.4 and WIA drivers connect it to accounting and document management software, and HP rates the engine for 400,000 pages. The control panel has dedicated duplex and shortcut buttons, so common jobs start with a single press. HP lists macOS 10.14 to 12 and Windows 7 to 11, plus Linux support, so most office computers are covered; tell us the operating system and we confirm the driver.
Before you order: The 2600 f1 is USB only, and its feeder accepts only 60 to 105 g/m² paper of at least 89 x 148 mm; cards, receipts and thicker stock must go on the flatbed. It needs about 49 cm of desk width. Allow about 33 cm of depth plus room for the feeder tray.

What It Means in Practice
- Up to 60 sheets load at once and both sides are captured in one pass, around 70 seconds for a 30-sheet double-sided stack.
- The flatbed at up to 1200 dpi handles passports, books and stapled documents without taking them apart.
- OCR to Word, Excel and searchable PDF turns paper forms into editable files.
- Instant-on technology means no waiting for the lamp to warm up.
- Secure boot with code signature validation protects the firmware from tampering.
What Will Not Work
- No network or Wi-Fi: scanning always goes through the connected computer.
- Business cards, plastic cards and small receipts are below the ADF minimum; use the flatbed.
- The feeder range of 60-105 g/m² excludes thin copy paper and card stock.
- A4 flatbed only; A3 originals do not fit.
- No transparency unit for film or slides.
Key Features
Flatbed and feeder in one
One device covers both daily stacks and awkward originals, so the office does not need a second scanner for books and IDs. Staff no longer have to walk to a multifunction printer for the odd passport or bound report. The flatbed lid can be lifted for thick books.
HP Scan with OCR
Save directly to Word, Excel, searchable PDF or PDF/A, and use auto exposure, background removal and barcode detection for cleaner results. A duplex button on the scanner switches between one-sided and two-sided jobs.
Secure and instant-on
Secure boot with code signature validation and instant-on scanning without warm-up. Shortcut profiles can be saved for recurring jobs, so a frequent scan takes a single button press. OCR quality is best at 300 dpi for normal office text.
Sustainable design
HP states over 22% recycled plastic in the design. The scanner also carries HP secure boot to protect against tampered firmware.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose the 2600 f1 or the 3600 f1?
If you scan under about 1,500 pages a day and USB 2.0 is fine, the 2600 f1 is enough. The 3600 f1 adds speed, a 3,000-page daily rating, USB 3.0 and a wider feeder weight range.
Can I scan a passport?
Yes, open on the flatbed at up to 1200 dpi.
Will it work with my document software?
HP supplies TWAIN 2.4 and WIA drivers, which most Windows document and accounting packages use. Tell us the software name and we check.
Can I scan documents longer than A4?
Yes, through the feeder: documents up to 216 x 3100 mm are accepted, which covers Legal paper and long printouts. The flatbed itself is A4 (216 x 297 mm), so longer originals that cannot be fed have to be scanned in sections and joined in software.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The 2600 f1 is the sensible flatbed-plus-feeder choice for a small office where scanning is regular but not the main job. Note the narrow 60-105 g/m² feeder range: thin receipts and card go on the glass, which is fine as long as you know it before buying. Keep the glass clean; most streaks on flatbed scans come from dust, not the scanner.
✓ Buy it if Buy it for a small office that scans moderate stacks and regularly needs a flatbed for IDs and books.
✕ Skip it if Skip it if you scan thousands of pages a day or need network scanning.
→ Also consider Also consider the HP ScanJet Pro 3600 f1 for higher daily volume and USB 3.0, or the Epson WorkForce DS-410 for a smaller sheetfed scanner.
