HPE X240 10G SFP+ to SFP+ 5m Direct Attach Copper Cable
10G SFP+5 m DACHPE ComwareJG081C
The HPE X240 10G SFP+ to SFP+ 5m Direct Attach Copper Cable (JG081C) is a ready-made 10 Gigabit link with SFP+ ends fixed to both sides of the cable, built for HPE Comware-based FlexFabric and FlexNetwork switches. It replaces a pair of SFP+ transceivers plus a fibre patch lead when the two ports are within 5 metres of each other.
Typical uses are switch-to-switch uplinks inside the same rack or the next rack, IRF stacking links between two HPE Comware switches, and short server-to-top-of-rack connections. HPE lists JG081C in the QuickSpecs of the FlexFabric 5800 and 5900 series, the 5130 EI series SFP+ ports and the FlexNetwork 7500X 48-port 10G SFP+ module.
Before you order: Check that JG081C appears on your switch’s own HPE QuickSpecs list. Aruba OS-CX/ArubaOS switches use their own DAC part numbers, so send us the switch model and we will confirm the right cable before you order.
What's in the Box
- 1 × HPE X240 10G SFP+ to SFP+ Direct Attach Copper Cable, 5 m, with the SFP+ connectors fixed to both ends
- No separate transceivers are needed — the connectors are part of the cable
- HPE does not publish a fuller package list
What It Means in Practice
- Two SFP+ ports up to 5 m apart are joined at 10 Gbps without buying two optics and a fibre lead
- Plug-in and go: the SFP+ ends seat directly in the switch cages, with nothing to clean or polarise as with fibre
- 5 m is the longest common DAC length — enough to cross to the neighbouring rack, but plan the cable route before ordering
- Server NICs on the other end must support RS-FEC for DAC cables longer than 3 m (HPE/Marvell adapter matrix note)
What Will Not Work
- Links longer than 5 m — use SFP+ optics and fibre instead
- Switches outside HPE’s Comware compatibility lists, or third-party switches that lock SFP+ ports to their own vendor codes
- 25G SFP28, 40G QSFP+ or 1G-only SFP ports — this is a 10G SFP+ cable
- Network cards that do not support RS-FEC for DAC lengths above 3 m
Key Features
Fixed SFP+ ends
Connectors are moulded to the copper cable, so there are no separate modules to buy, store or mismatch.
10.31 Gbps line rate
Carries a full 10 Gigabit Ethernet link (10.31 Gbps signalling per the HPE Comware transceiver guide).
Comware-validated
Listed by HPE for FlexFabric 5800/5900, 5130 EI SFP+ ports and the 7500X 10G SFP+ module.
5 m reach
The longest standard X240 length — for neighbouring racks or longer in-rack runs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to buy SFP+ transceivers as well?
No. The SFP+ connectors are part of the cable itself, so you plug the two ends straight into the switch ports.
Can I use it to connect an HPE switch to a server?
Yes, if the server network card accepts DAC cables and supports RS-FEC, which HPE notes is required for DAC lengths above 3 m. Send us the card model and we will check it.
Will it work in an Aruba CX switch?
HPE lists JG081C for Comware-based switches. Aruba CX switches use their own DAC part numbers, so ask us for the matching cable.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
JG081C is the sensible choice when two HPE Comware switches sit within 5 m: one cable replaces two optics and a fibre lead, and HPE lists it in the switch QuickSpecs. If the run might grow beyond 5 m, or if the far end is a server NIC, check that first. For switches and uplink planning see our
network switches.
✓ Buy it if you are linking HPE FlexFabric/FlexNetwork Comware switches whose QuickSpecs list JG081C, up to 5 m apart.
✕ Skip it if the distance is over 5 m, the switch is Aruba CX or another brand, or the ports are 25G/40G.
→ Also consider the 1 m or 3 m HPE X240 DAC cables for in-rack links, or SFP+ optics with fibre for longer runs.
Not sure your switch accepts it? Send us the switch model and we will check HPE’s compatibility list before you order.
