The HPE Aruba Networking CX 6300M R8S92A is a 1U Layer 3 switch with 24 SFP/SFP+ ports (1G or 10G, including 10G LRM support), two SFP56 ports for 10/25/50G and two SFP28 ports for 10/25G with MACsec, running AOS-CX. It is built as a fibre aggregation or collapsed-core switch for campus buildings and branch distribution layers.
Like the rest of the 6300M family it is modular in power and cooling: the switch has two hot-swappable power-supply slots and hot-swappable fan trays with front-to-back airflow. The power supply is not part of this part number and must be ordered separately.
Before you order: R8S92A ships without a power supply. You need at least one PSU (two for redundancy): JL086A or JL087A (AC), JL670A (AC) or JL758A (DC). Since this model has no PoE, the smaller JL086A is usually enough. Ask us and we will add the right PSU to your order.

What It Means in Practice
- Ideal for terminating fibre runs from access closets: 24 SFP+ ports at 10G, or 1G SFP for older links.
- LRM support (J9152D) lets it reuse legacy multimode fibre (OM1/OM2) at 10G up to about 220 m.
- The 50G and 25G ports uplink to a core or interconnect stack members; MACsec encrypts links that leave the building.
- VSF stacks up to 10 switches of the 6300 family as one logical device (not over 1G ports).
What Will Not Work
- It will not power on out of the box — the PSU is a separate part.
- It has no PoE and no RJ45 data ports; copper clients need an access switch or 10GBASE-T transceivers.
- It does not stack with Aruba 2930/2540 or Instant On switches — VSF is CX 6300 only.
- Transceivers and DAC cables are not included.
