The HPE Aruba Networking R0Z25A is a 1m 100G QSFP28-to-QSFP28 direct attach copper cable for HPE Aruba Networking CX switches, for teams linking neighbouring switches, VSX pairs or a switch and a server within the same rack.
The QSFP28 connectors are part of the cable, so there are no separate optics to buy and no fibre ends to clean. HPE lists the R0Z25A in the transceiver tables of the current CX 6300, CX 6400, CX 8325 and CX 8360 v2 QuickSpecs, which makes it the 100G 1m DAC to order for an AOS-CX network.
Before you order: Do not accidentally order the HPE X240 JL271A instead. It is also a 100G QSFP28 1m DAC, but HPE lists it for the FlexFabric (Comware) switches, not in the current CX QuickSpecs. For CX switches, R0Z25A is the listed part. On the CX 6300, only models with 100G QSFP28 ports, such as the 6300M 4-port 100G models, can use it.

What It Means in Practice
- One cable replaces two 100G transceivers and a fibre patch lead on short links, at lower cost and power.
- Typical uses are switch-to-switch links between a VSX pair or spine and leaf switches mounted next to each other.
- 1m suits adjacent rack units; measure the real cable route including the cable manager before ordering.
- As an HPE-listed part, the cable is recognised by AOS-CX without extra configuration, which keeps support cases straightforward.
- Copper DAC is stiffer than fibre, so leave room for the bend and avoid side load on the connectors.
What Will Not Work
- It will not work on CX 6300 models without 100G QSFP28 ports; most 6300 models have SFP56 uplinks and need SFP56 cables such as R0M46A.
- It is not the part HPE lists for FlexFabric Comware switches; those list the JL271A.
- It is not a breakout cable and will not split into 4 x 25G.
- It will not reach between racks; use a longer DAC, an AOC or optics with fibre.
- It does not fit SFP28, SFP56 or 10G SFP+ ports.
