i-tec C31HUBMETAL703 — seven 5 Gbps ports in a 157 mm metal bar
7 x USB-A at 5 GbpsBC 1.2 charging, 7.5 W per port2-in-1 USB-A/USB-C host cableMetal body, 90 g
The i-tec C31HUBMETAL703 fits seven USB-A ports into a 157 mm metal bar, all running USB 3.2 Gen 1 at up to 5 Gbps and all supporting BC 1.2 charging at up to 7.5 W. The host lead is a 30 cm 2-in-1 cable carrying both a USB-A and a USB-C plug, so the same hub fits a new laptop and an older machine. A separate USB-C socket accepts a 15 W supply when seven devices are more than one host port should carry.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Two limits i-tec states plainly and we will not soften. Only one device can use BC 1.2 fast charging at a time, and the hub does not charge iPads or Samsung tablets, which need identification circuits it does not have. The USB-C socket is a power inlet up to 15 W (5 V / 3 A), not a data port and not a charging output, and the adapter is not included — without it, seven ports live on one host port, which is thin for anything demanding. There is no Power Delivery, so the hub cannot charge the notebook. i-tec does not publish a chipset or a colour, and one older revision of the quick-start guide describes the host lead as USB-C only, while the current product page and datasheet both say USB-A and USB-C.
Best For
✓ Desks and benches that need seven ports at real speed
✓ Mixed fleets of USB-A and USB-C machines
✓ Flash drives, card readers, printers and scanners
✓ Charging one phone alongside the peripherals
✓ Setups where a metal body earns its keep
✓ Anyone whose computer has run out of sockets
Key Features
Seven ports, all at 5 Gbps
Most hubs reach seven ports by staying on USB 2.0. Every port here is USB 3.2 Gen 1, so a flash drive or a card reader moves at proper speed instead of sharing 480 Mbps with six neighbours.
One hub for both laptop generations
The integrated 30 cm 2-in-1 lead carries a USB-A and a USB-C plug, so the hub keeps working through a hardware refresh and can be shared across a mixed fleet.
Power in when you need it
A dedicated USB-C inlet takes a 15 W (5 V / 3 A) supply, which is what turns seven bus-powered sockets into seven that stay reliable. The adapter is bought separately.

Singular Expert Insight
Seven ports at full 5 Gbps in a metal body is a genuinely useful combination, because most hubs with this many sockets buy them by dropping to USB 2.0. What makes the C31HUBMETAL703 easy to recommend within our USB hub range is the 2-in-1 host lead: it fits whatever laptop you have now and whatever replaces it. Be clear-eyed about the charging, though, because i-tec is: one device at a time on BC 1.2, no iPad or Samsung tablet support, and no adapter in the box. Treat it as a data hub that can also charge a phone, not as a charging station. And if you are connecting external hard drives with their own mains adapters, use them — 15 W across seven ports is for peripherals.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need seven ports and you want all of them at 5 Gbps rather than USB 2.0. Your machines are a mix of USB-A and USB-C and one host cable should fit both. You want a metal body that stays put with seven cables attached.
Skip it if
You want to charge several devices at once — only one port fast-charges at a time. You need to charge an iPad or a Samsung tablet, which this hub explicitly does not support. You expected a power adapter in the box.
Also consider
A mains-powered seven-port hub if the supply must be included. A dedicated multi-port charger if charging several devices is the real job. A USB-C hub with PD pass-through if the laptop charges over USB-C.
