i-tec U3CHARGEHUB4 — 4-Port Metal Hub with Individual On/Off Switches
Switch each port on or offBC 1.2 charging on all four5 Gbps SuperSpeedMetal body, 41 g
The i-tec U3CHARGEHUB4 is a four-port metal hub with two features most hubs at this size leave out: an on/off switch with a blue LED on every port, and BC 1.2 quick-charge negotiation on all four sockets rather than on one dedicated port. It plugs into a USB-A port on a 20 cm integrated cable, measures 103 x 31 x 10 mm and weighs 41 g.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Read this before ordering: no power adapter is supplied. The part number says CHARGEHUB and the hub does support BC 1.2 charging, but i-tec ships it bus-powered — there is a micro-USB socket for a secondary supply of up to 10 W (5 V / 2 A) and i-tec states plainly that the charger is not included. Without it the four ports share whatever the computer gives. If you want a charging hub that works fully out of the box, i-tec’s U3HUB445 ships with its power adapter. The plug here is USB-A, and there is no video output, no Ethernet and no way to charge a laptop.
Best For
✓ Desks where devices need switching off without unplugging
✓ Test benches and repair work with drives that must be isolated
✓ Charging phones and tablets at BC 1.2 rates, with a 5 V supply added
✓ Keyboards, mice, receivers, dongles and flash drives
✓ Bus-powered SSDs, one at a time on host power alone
✓ Anyone who wants a metal hub with per-port control
Key Features
Four switches, four blue LEDs
Each port has its own on/off switch and indicator. A drive can be cut off cleanly, a dongle can be live only during a session, and you can see at a glance which sockets are active.
BC 1.2 on every port, not just one
Most charging hubs give you one fast-charge socket. i-tec publishes BC 1.2 quick-charge support on all four here, so it does not matter which one the phone lands on.
A power input for the full 10 W
A micro-USB socket takes a secondary supply of up to 10 W (5 V / 2 A), which is what lets several drives or a charging tablet run at once. The charger is a separate purchase.
Metal with surge protection
A metal body at 103 x 31 x 10 mm and 41 g, with an integrated surge protector so a faulty peripheral trips the hub rather than the computer.

Singular Expert Insight
The part number oversells this one and it is worth being straight about it: CHARGEHUB means BC 1.2 negotiation on all four ports, not a hub that arrives ready to charge a tablet. i-tec removed the word Charging from the official product name but kept it in the code, which is exactly how customers end up disappointed. Buy it for the per-port switches — genuinely useful on a bench or a shared desk — and budget for a 5 V / 2 A micro-USB supply if charging is part of the plan. Within its scope it is a solid metal hub for flash drives, receivers and one external SSD.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want four 5 Gbps ports you can switch off one at a time, in a metal body, with BC 1.2 charging available once you add a 5 V supply.
Skip it if
Skip it if you expected a power adapter in the box, if your laptop only has USB-C, or if you need video, Ethernet or laptop charging.
Also consider
i-tec U3HUB445 if you want a charging hub that ships with its power adapter, or U3HUBMETAL403 if you do not need the switches.
