i-tec CAHUBMETALMINI4 — Metal Mini Hub, One Fast Port and Three USB 2.0
1 x USB-C at 5 Gbps3 x USB-A at 480 MbpsMetal, 7 mm thick, 26 gUSB-A or USB-C host
The i-tec CAHUBMETALMINI4 is the smallest hub i-tec makes: 100 x 17 x 7 mm and 26 g, in a metal body on a 15 cm integrated cable. It gives four ports from either a USB-A or a USB-C port, but they are not equal — one runs at the full 5 Gbps and the other three at USB 2.0 speeds.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Only one of the four ports is fast. i-tec publishes one USB-C port at USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) and three USB-A ports at USB 2.0, 480 Mbps. That is about ten times slower on those three, so put an external drive on the fast port and keyboards, mice, receivers and dongles on the rest. If you need four fast ports, i-tec’s U3HUBMETAL403 is the model with 5 Gbps on all four — the two look similar in a photograph, so order by part number. The integrated cable connects to either a USB-A or a USB-C host, which is what the CA prefix means and what separates this from the USB-C-only C31HUBMETALMINI4. The hub is bus-powered, charging is at standard USB current (0.9 A), and there is no video output and no Ethernet.
Best For
✓ Laptop bags — 7 mm thick and 26 g
✓ One external SSD on the fast port plus low-speed peripherals
✓ Keyboards, mice, wireless receivers and dongles
✓ Charging a phone at standard USB current
✓ Hot desks and meeting rooms
✓ Machines that may be USB-A one day and USB-C the next
Key Features
One port that is actually quick
A single USB-C socket at 5 Gbps. Knowing which port that is turns a slow hub into a usable one — the drive goes there, everything else fills the other three.
The thinnest metal hub i-tec makes
100 x 17 x 7 mm at 26 g. Seven millimetres is thin enough to sit in a laptop sleeve without being noticed, and the metal shell survives a bag.
Protection built in
i-tec builds in surge protection so a faulty peripheral trips the hub rather than the computer’s USB controller.
No drivers, no adapter
Plug and play on Windows 10 and 11, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, Android and iPadOS, powered entirely from the host port.

Singular Expert Insight
This is a hub bought for thickness, not throughput, and judged that way it is excellent: seven millimetres of metal that disappears into a sleeve. The catch is in the port list, and it catches people regularly — three of the four sockets are USB 2.0. Treat it as a one-fast-port hub and it is a good travel companion: the external SSD goes on the quick socket, the flash drives, receivers and dongles fill the rest. If everything you connect moves real data, pay a little more for the U3HUBMETAL403 and get four fast ports instead.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want the thinnest metal hub available for a bag, you connect one fast device and several slow ones, and the hub has to fit whichever machine is in front of you.
Skip it if
Skip it if you need more than one port at 5 Gbps, if you want to charge a laptop through the hub, or if video or Ethernet are required.
Also consider
i-tec U3HUBMETAL403 for 5 Gbps on all four ports, or one of the other MINI4 variants if you need a different host or fast-port connector.
