i-tec CACBLHUB2A2C — four ports on flexible arms, for either kind of laptop

2 x USB-C + 2 x USB-A5 Gbps on all four2-in-1 USB-A/USB-C host plug60 g, no power brick

The i-tec CACBLHUB2A2C is a hub without a body. Instead of a block on the desk, the four ports sit on two flexible cable arms — two USB-C and two USB-A, all running USB 3.2 Gen 1 at up to 5 Gbps — so each connector can be laid where it is needed rather than fighting for space beside its neighbours. The host end is a 10 cm 2-in-1 lead carrying both a USB-A and a USB-C plug, so the same hub fits a new laptop and an older one, and it also works on a USB4 or Thunderbolt port.

Compatibility — check before buying:
It is bus-powered with no power input at all — four devices share whatever one host port supplies, so bus-powered hard drives or several active devices at once are outside what this is built for. The two USB-C sockets are data ports, not charging or Power Delivery ports: this hub will not charge your notebook and will not take a charger. The published 250 mm dimension is the span of the cable arms, not a chunky housing, and the host lead is only 10 cm, so the hub hangs at the side of the machine rather than reaching across a desk. i-tec does not publish per-port current, the material or the colour.

Best For

✓ Laptops with a mix of USB-C and USB-A accessories
✓ Desks where connectors get in each other’s way
✓ Mixed fleets of newer and older machines
✓ Flash drives, card readers, mice and keyboards
✓ Travel at 60 g with nothing to plug in
✓ USB4 and Thunderbolt machines needing plain USB ports

Key Features

Ports on arms, not in a block
The four connectors sit on flexible cable arms, so a wide flash drive or a chunky dongle does not block the port next to it — the everyday annoyance of a solid four-port hub.

One hub for both laptop generations
A 2-in-1 host lead with a USB-A and a USB-C plug means the same hub serves a machine that has dropped full-size USB and one that never had USB-C. i-tec also lists USB4 and Thunderbolt 3, 4 and 5 hosts.

Two of each socket
Two USB-C and two USB-A ports, all data-capable at 5 Gbps, so newer and older accessories both connect directly with no adapter chain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why put the ports on cables instead of in a block?
Because connectors are wider than sockets. On a conventional four-port hub, one fat flash drive or a wireless receiver with a large body covers the port beside it, and you end up using two of the four. Here each connector sits on its own flexible arm, so they can be spread out on the desk. It also means the hub lies flat rather than perching on a cable.
Will it plug into my laptop?
Almost certainly. The host lead carries both a USB-A and a USB-C plug, so it fits a machine with either port, and i-tec also lists USB4 and Thunderbolt 3, 4 and 5 hosts as compatible. What matters is that the port carries data — a charge-only USB-C socket, which some cheaper machines and all chargers have, will not work.
Can I run an external hard drive from it?
Not comfortably. There is no power input on this hub at all, so all four ports live on whatever the single host port supplies, and i-tec does not publish a per-port current figure. Flash drives, card readers, a mouse and a keyboard are well within it. A bus-powered 2.5-inch drive is borderline on its own and unrealistic alongside other devices. If drives are the job, a mains-powered hub is the right answer — tell us the drives and we will match one.
Singular Expert Insight
This one is worth looking at only if you have hit the specific annoyance it solves: connectors on a conventional hub blocking each other. If you have, the flexible-arm layout is genuinely better and there is very little else like it in our USB hub range. The other real advantage is the 2-in-1 host plug, which means the hub survives a laptop replacement rather than being tied to whichever port your current machine has. What you give up is power headroom — bus-powered with no input, so it is a hub for peripherals and USB flash drives rather than for drives — and reach, since the host lead is only 10 cm. It is a travel and side-of-the-laptop hub, not a desk fixture.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

Wide connectors keep blocking each other on your current hub. You use both USB-C and USB-A accessories and want two of each. Your machines are a mix of USB-A and USB-C and one hub should fit both.

Skip it if

You want a hub that sits on the desk with a decent cable run — this one is 10 cm to the host. You need to run bus-powered hard drives or charge devices. You expected the USB-C ports to take a charger: they are data ports.

Also consider

A conventional four-port hub if connector clearance is not your problem. A mains-powered hub if drives are involved. A USB-C hub with PD pass-through if the laptop charges over USB-C.
