ICY DOCK EZ-Slide Slim MB993TP-B — Spare Tray for MB411SPO-2B and MB993SK-B
Metal tray, 27 g5 mm and 7 mm drives onlyToughArmor MB411SPO-2B / MB993SK-BScrews included
The ICY DOCK EZ-Slide Slim MB993TP-B is a spare metal drive tray for two ToughArmor mobile racks: the MB411SPO-2B and the MB993SK-B. It is the carrier a 2.5-inch drive is screwed into before it slides into the cage, built from metal with a metal latch rather than plastic, and it weighs 27 g. The specification that defines it is thickness: the tray itself is only 7 mm deep and takes 5 mm and 7 mm drives — nothing thicker. Buy one per drive so that changing storage is a matter of pulling one tray and pushing in another rather than finding a screwdriver.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Two cages, and the model suffix decides it. ICY DOCK lists this tray for the ToughArmor MB411SPO-2B and MB993SK-B. The catch is the MB411 family: ICY DOCK’s other 2.5-inch trays, the MB992TRAY-B and MB996TK-B, are listed for a group of cages that includes MB411 — but ICY DOCK explicitly notes that those two are not compatible with the MB411SPO-2B. So an MB411 cage is not enough information; the full suffix is. Read it off the front of the cage before ordering. The other hard limit is drive thickness: 5 mm and 7 mm only. A 9.5 mm SSD, which fits many other ICY DOCK trays, will not go into this one. Interface support is 2.5-inch SAS and SATA I, II and III, but the tray is passive — what actually works is decided by the cage and the host controller, and a SAS disk still needs a SAS controller.
Best For
✓ Adding spare trays to an MB411SPO-2B or MB993SK-B
✓ Replacing a tray lost or damaged in service
✓ Thin 5 mm and 7 mm SSDs in a high-density rack
✓ Rotating a backup set, one drive per tray
✓ Test benches where drives change several times a day
✓ Keeping cold spares ready-mounted for a fast swap
Key Features
Metal, not plastic
ICY DOCK builds this tray from metal with a metal latch, which is what the ToughArmor line is for — racks that get cycled hard in industrial and rack-mounted machines rather than opened twice a year. At 116.3 × 72.2 × 7 mm and 27 g it is thin and light, and it takes the insertion force through steel rather than through a plastic clip.
Built around 7 mm drives
The 7 mm profile is what lets the parent cages pack drives closely, and it is also the constraint: this tray is published for 5 mm and 7 mm drives only. Practically every current 2.5-inch SSD is 7 mm, so the limit rarely bites — but an older 9.5 mm laptop disk will not fit, and that is worth checking before you order.
Screws in the box
Unlike some spare trays in the range, ICY DOCK lists screws as part of the package contents here, so the drive can be secured properly without sourcing hardware. The tray has no keylock; the drive is retained by the cage latch, and the lockable versions in the ToughArmor range are separate part numbers.

Singular Expert Insight
Two things go wrong when people buy ToughArmor trays, and both are avoidable in thirty seconds. The first is the cage suffix — ICY DOCK’s tray listings group cages by family, and the MB411SPO-2B is explicitly carved out from the group that MB992TRAY-B and MB996TK-B serve, so the full model number is the only safe input. The second is drive thickness: a 7 mm tray in a high-density rack is a deliberate design choice, not an oversight, and a 9.5 mm drive simply will not go in. Confirm both and the part is straightforward. For the drives, our internal SSDs range lists the 7 mm 2.5-inch models these racks are built around, and HDD and SSD enclosures covers the cages themselves.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You own a ToughArmor MB411SPO-2B or MB993SK-B and want more trays than it shipped with, and your drives are 5 mm or 7 mm 2.5-inch SAS or SATA.
Skip it if
Your cage is a different MB411 variant or another model. Your drives are 9.5 mm or thicker. Or you need a lockable tray, which this is not.
Also consider
ICY DOCK MB992TRAY-B or MB996TK-B for the MB092, MB111, MB118, MB604, MB608, MB839, MB992 and MB996 cages — but not for the MB411SPO-2B — or the parent cage itself if you do not yet own one.
