The ICY DOCK EZ-Tray MB453TRAY-2B is a spare removable drive tray for ICY DOCK’s FatCage and DataCage enclosures. It is the carrier a drive is fixed into before it slides into the cage, with an ABS front panel and a stainless steel chassis, and it takes either a 2.5-inch or a 3.5-inch drive. Buy one per drive and a disk change becomes a matter of pulling one tray out and pushing another in, with no screwdriver and nothing unplugged. Being a spare part, it does nothing on its own — it is not a converter, and it will not turn a plain drive bay into a hot-swap bay.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This tray only works inside a compatible ICY DOCK cage. ICY DOCK lists it for the FatCage MB153 and MB155, the DataCage MB45X series, and the MB876 and MB901 series; the German ICY DOCK page adds that it is interchangeable with the multi-bay ICYCube MB561 and the single-bay ICYBento MB559. If your cage is not on that list — and in particular if it is a ToughArmor 2.5-inch rack, which uses an entirely different tray family — this is the wrong part. ICY DOCK does not publish a maximum drive height, a keylock specification or a package contents list for this tray, so we state none of those: assume no key and no cables are supplied, and tell us the cage model and the drive you plan to fit and we will confirm with the distributor. Read the model number off the front of the cage rather than from an invoice, because ICY DOCK’s tray families are not interchangeable.

Most spare trays are tied to one drive size. This one is a shared carrier: the same tray accepts a 3.5-inch hard disk or a 2.5-inch drive, which is useful in a cage that holds a mix — large disks for capacity and an SSD or two for anything that needs to be quick.
Steel where it matters, plastic where it does not
ICY DOCK builds this tray with an ABS front panel and a stainless steel chassis. The steel carries the drive and takes the insertion force; the plastic front is what your fingers touch and what carries the handle. That combination is why these trays survive being cycled far more often than an all-plastic caddy.
One tray per drive is the point of a cage
A hot-swap cage only saves time if every drive already lives in its own tray. Otherwise each change means finding a screwdriver, and the cage might as well be a fixed bay. At 157 × 112.4 × 26.6 mm and 136 g, trays are cheap enough to stock in quantity, which is exactly how most cages end up being used.
