The Intellinet 780124 Universal Modular Plug Crimping Tool and Cable Tester is a 2-in-1 tool that cuts, strips and crimps RJ45, RJ11, RJ12 and RJ22 plugs and then tests the finished cable, for installers who want fewer tools in the bag. It works with Cat3 to Cat6a patch cables and installed wiring.

The built-in tester has a detachable snap-in remote and nine LEDs that confirm all four pairs and the shield, or flag shorts, miswires, reversals and split pairs.

Good to know: The tester runs on 4 x LR44 button cells, which are not included. Intellinet does not publish a maximum test length.

Does the Intellinet 780124 detect split pairs?
Yes. Unlike many basic continuity testers, it flags split pairs as well as shorts, miswires and reversals — split pairs pass a simple pin-to-pin check but cause crosstalk and poor performance on real links.
Can I test a cable that is already installed in the wall?
Yes. Snap the remote out of the tool, plug it into the far end of the run, and connect the near end to the tool to read the result on the LEDs.
