The Intellinet 471329 is a 3 m duplex OM1 multimode fibre patch cable with LC/UPC on one end and ST/UPC on the other, made for maintaining and extending existing 62.5/125 µm multimode installations.
The cable uses an LSZH jacket with a 3.0 mm outer diameter in orange, the usual colour for OM1/OM2, so it is easy to tell apart in a busy rack.
Before you order: This is 62.5/125 µm OM1 fibre. Use it only where the existing installation is also 62.5/125 µm — connecting it to 50/125 µm (OM2–OM5) fibre or to modern SR transceivers adds heavy coupling loss and often a link that will not come up.

What It Means in Practice
- Two fibres in one cable: one transmits, one receives — the normal setup for SFP, SFP+, SFP28 and most media converters.
- At 3 m it is a rack or desk-side jumper: switch to patch panel, server to top-of-rack switch, or media converter to wall outlet.
- Keeps an older 62.5/125 µm cabling plant working when you replace a patch cord or move equipment — match it to the fibre already installed.
- Respect the minimum bend radius (30 mm): route the cable in gentle loops and do not pinch it in rack doors or cable ties.
- Keep the connectors covered until the moment of connection and clean the end-faces if a link shows high loss — dirt is the most common cause.
What Will Not Work
- Singlemode LR/LX/ER transceivers (1310/1550 nm) — they need OS2 singlemode cable.
- Links built on 50/125 µm fibre (OM2, OM3, OM4, OM5) — mixing core sizes causes high loss.
- Ports of another connector type (SC, MPO/MTP, E2000) without the right hybrid cable or adapter.
- Permanent in-wall or outdoor installation — this is a patch cable for racks, desks and equipment rooms.

OM1 is a maintenance product — buy it to match fibre already in the wall, not for new links. Match three things before ordering: fibre type (OM1), connector at each end (LC/UPC / ST/UPC) and polish. Typical partners are switches with SFP/SFP+ ports and the matching transceivers.
✓ Buy it if your ports are LC on one side and ST on the other and the link is OM1.
✕ Skip it if your existing fibre is 50/125 µm — order OM3/OM4 instead.
