Managed industrial Gigabit PoE+ with external redundant DC power
8 × Gigabit PoE+2 × Gigabit SFPUp to 240 W sharedFanless IP30 housing
The Intellinet 508278 combines eight Gigabit PoE+ copper ports and two Gigabit SFP slots in a managed industrial switch. VLAN, QoS, aggregation and monitoring help organise the network, while Powered Device Monitor can power-cycle unresponsive PoE endpoints. Its fanless metal housing supports DIN-rail installation with separately selected external DC power.
Best For: Protected industrial and building networks needing managed Gigabit PoE+ and compatible fibre links.
Before you order: Select a separate suitable 48–57 V DC industrial supply. The available shared PoE budget is up to 240 W, depending on that supply, with up to 30 W per powered port. Allow for switch overhead. Redundant inputs require actual external sources and do not provide battery backup. IP30 provides no water protection.
What's in the Box
- Intellinet 508278 switch and DIN-rail mounting bracket.
- Industrial DC power supply, SFP modules, fibre and Ethernet cables selected separately.
- Domotz compatibility does not establish an included cloud subscription.
What It Means in Practice
- Connect and power eight compatible IEEE 802.3af/at Gigabit devices within the actual total power budget.
- Fit compatible Gigabit SFP modules and matching fibre for the two uplinks.
- Configure VLANs, QoS, LACP, spanning tree and access policies for the installation.
- Set PoE scheduling and PDM monitoring appropriately; connect grounding and alarms as required.
What Will Not Work
- No direct AC mains input or included industrial PSU.
- No 10G SFP+ uplinks, 2.5G copper ports or PoE++ output.
- PDM attempts recovery by cycling power; it cannot repair every endpoint fault.
- No battery UPS or water-protected outdoor enclosure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is an AC power cord and power supply included?
No industrial supply is included. This model requires suitable external 48–57 V DC power.
Can it supply eight 30 W devices?
Up to 240 W shared PoE is documented, but the external supply must cover that output plus switch overhead.
Are the SFP slots 10G?
No. This exact model has two Gigabit SFP slots.
Does the PoE watchdog guarantee recovery?
No. PDM can power-cycle an unresponsive device, but the underlying fault may need separate attention.
Singular Expert Insight
Plan the external power system alongside the network. The 240 W output capability is useful only with adequate supply capacity, wiring and installation conditions. Configure PDM and scheduling for the real endpoints, and do not confuse redundant DC inputs with a battery-backed installation.
Buyer’s Guide
✓ Buy it if You need fanless managed industrial Gigabit PoE+ with a correctly designed external DC supply.
✕ Skip it if You need included mains power, 10G uplinks, PoE++ or rain exposure.
→ Also consider PSU capacity, redundancy, grounding, alarm wiring, SFP compatibility and actual endpoint loads.
