j5create JCH471 — Gigabit Ethernet and Three USB 3.0 Ports from USB-C
Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45)3 × USB-A, 5 GbpsAluminium, ~58 gBus-powered
The j5create JCH471 is a USB-C multi-adapter that adds a wired Gigabit network port and three USB 3.0 Type-A ports to a laptop that has neither. It connects over a 14.5 cm USB-C cable, runs bus-powered from the computer and comes in an aluminium body of about 91 × 44 × 19 mm weighing roughly 58 g. Part number JCH471 also has a DC socket for an optional 5 V supply when connected devices draw more current. Note that despite the older “USB 3.1” wording in some of j5create’s titles, the USB sockets are specified as USB 3.0 at 5 Gbps.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The USB ports are 5 Gbps, not 10, despite “3.1” appearing in the product name — j5create’s own spec table lists USB 3.0 female connectors. The optional 5 V DC adapter (3.5 × 1.35 mm) is not included; j5create recommends one above about 150 mA of draw. There is no Power Delivery, so the laptop is not charged. No video output and no card reader. The box includes a driver CD — use j5create’s download page instead.
Best For
✓ Ultrabooks with no Ethernet socket
✓ Offices where wired networking is required
✓ Meeting rooms and training rooms
✓ Travel kits for hotels with wired ports
✓ Adding USB-A ports alongside the network connection
✓ Machines on networks that block Wi-Fi
Key Features
Wired networking back on a thin laptop
A full RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port, which is still the fastest and most reliable connection in most offices and the one some corporate networks insist on.
Three USB 3.0 ports as well
Three USB-A sockets at up to 5 Gbps for sticks, mice, keyboards and dongles, so one cable covers network and peripherals.
Aluminium with an optional power input
A metal body of about 91 × 44 × 19 mm and 58 g, with a DC socket for an optional 5 V supply when the attached devices need more than bus power provides.

Singular Expert Insight
This is an older design, and it shows in the driver CD and the 5 Gbps USB ports, but a reliable Gigabit port with three USB sockets on one short cable is still exactly what a lot of office laptops need. If the network is already 2.5G, the Conceptronic ABBY14B doubles the throughput; if you also need a monitor, that is a docking station from our docking stations. See our USB hubs for hubs without Ethernet. Not sure it fits your setup? Tell us your laptop or PC model and what you want to plug in and we will check it before you order.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need a wired Gigabit network port and three USB-A ports from a single USB-C connection, in a metal body, and the laptop can charge elsewhere.
Skip it if
Your network is 2.5G and you want the extra speed, or you need laptop charging, video, USB-C downstream ports or 10 Gbps.
Also consider
Conceptronic ABBY14B for 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet plus four USB ports; Club 3D CSV-1430A for Gigabit Ethernet plus three USB-A from a USB-A host; a USB-C docking station for Ethernet and HDMI together.
