Jabra Engage 55 SE Mono — DECT Freedom for Busy Desks
DECT wirelessUSB-C dongle13 h talk time57 g
The Jabra Engage 55 SE Mono is a single-ear DECT wireless headset with a USB-C dongle, built for office and contact-centre staff who take calls on a PC or Mac softphone all day and need to walk away from the desk without dropping the call. Jabra rates it for up to 150 metres line of sight and up to 13 hours of talk time.
DECT is a dedicated voice radio, separate from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so it does not compete with the dozens of Bluetooth devices in a busy open office. This version is the UC model: it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Amazon Chime and other UC softphones. If your company runs Microsoft Teams and wants the Teams button and certification, the MS version is the one to order.
Before you order: This is the UC version with a USB-C dongle and no Bluetooth. Jabra's 9653-435 code is listed as the version with the charging stand; the distributor description does not mention the stand, so ask us to confirm the box contents if the stand matters to you.
What's in the Box
- Jabra Engage 55 SE Mono headset (on-ear headband)
- Jabra Link 400c USB-C DECT dongle
- USB cable
- Travel pouch
- User documentation
What It Means in Practice
- Plug the dongle into a USB-C port and the headset works with your softphone: no pairing app or driver install for basic calls.
- You can walk to the printer, the meeting room or the next office and stay on the call; Jabra quotes up to 150 m line of sight, less through walls and floors.
- A full working day of calls fits easily in the 13 hours of talk time; charging from empty takes up to 90 minutes and you can charge during a call.
- The battery is user-replaceable (Jabra part 14151-09), so the headset does not have to be retired when the battery ages.
- The red busylight tells colleagues you are on a call without you saying a word.
What Will Not Work
- No Bluetooth: it will not pair directly with a mobile phone or tablet.
- No 3.5 mm jack and no direct desk-phone cable in this USB-C version.
- The dongle is USB-C: older PCs with only USB-A ports need a USB-C to USB-A adapter, or the USB-A version of the headset.
- Not Microsoft Teams certified: that certification and the Teams button come only with the MS variants.
- No active noise cancellation for the wearer: the noise handling is on the microphone side.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it with my mobile phone?
No. The Engage 55 SE connects only through its DECT dongle. If you need mobile and PC on one headset, look at a Bluetooth model such as the Jabra Evolve2 55.
Does it work in Microsoft Teams?
Calls work in Teams as a standard USB audio device, but this UC version is not Teams certified and has no Teams button. Order the MS version if certification is required.
Can several people share a dongle for conference calls?
The headset is designed for one computer at a time; Jabra does not publish conferencing on this model, so plan one headset and dongle per user.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
DECT headsets are the safe choice for busy offices: the radio is dedicated to voice, the range is far longer than Bluetooth and the battery comfortably outlasts a shift. The Engage 55 SE Mono keeps one ear free for the room, which receptionists and team leads appreciate. Compare it with the rest of our
office and VoIP headsets before you decide.
✓ Buy it if you take long softphone calls at a desk, need to move around the building and want a light single-ear headset.
✕ Skip it if you need Bluetooth for a mobile phone, Teams certification, or a USB-A dongle for an older PC.
→ Also consider the Jabra Evolve2 55 if you want Bluetooth with mobile pairing, or the EPOS IMPACT D 10 Phone II for a desk-phone DECT set.
