Kensington BlackBelt EQ — Rugged Case for Surface Pro 12"
Rugged caseSurface Pro 12"MIL-STD-810HBlack
The Kensington BlackBelt EQ K96542EU is a rugged protective case for the Microsoft Surface Pro 12-inch (1st Edition, Copilot+ PC), tested to MIL-STD-810H for drops up to 1.2 m.
It is made for businesses, schools and healthcare teams deploying the new 12" Surface Pro: a textured, non-slip shell, a self-adjusting hand strap for one-handed use and a stretch band that keeps the keyboard attached when the device is carried.
Before you order: Fits only the Surface Pro 12" (1st Edition, Copilot+ PC). It does not fit the 13" Surface Pro 9, 10 or 11 — Kensington makes a separate BlackBelt EQ (K97503WW) for those.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Kensington BlackBelt EQ rugged case for Surface Pro 12"
- No keyboard, pen or tablet included
What It Means in Practice
- Drop protection to 1.2 m (MIL-STD-810H Method 516.8 shock) covers falls from a desk or from standing height.
- The self-adjusting hand strap lets staff hold the Surface securely in one hand while walking or presenting.
- A stretch band holds the keyboard against the device, so it does not swing open in transit.
- Molded button covers and cut-outs keep every port and button usable, and heat-dissipation channels let the device breathe.
- The textured grip and slim profile keep the Surface easy to carry and still fit in a laptop bag.
What Will Not Work
- It will not fit Surface Pro 9, 10 or 11 (13"), older Surface Pro models or Surface Go.
- No keyboard or Surface Pen is included.
- Kensington tests contamination by fluids (Method 504.3), but the case is not waterproof.
- The screen itself is not covered; add a privacy filter or screen protector if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The 12" Surface Pro is the lighter, more mobile Surface, which also means it gets carried and dropped more. BlackBelt EQ adds certified drop protection and a hand strap without turning it into a brick. Double-check the screen size before ordering: 12" and 13" cases are not interchangeable. See the full tablet accessories range for other rugged cases.
✓ Buy it if you deploy Surface Pro 12" devices in schools, healthcare or field roles and want drop protection with a hand strap.
✕ Skip it if you have a 13" Surface Pro or only need a sleeve for office use.
→ Also consider the Mobilis PROTECH case if you run Surface Pro 8–11 (13").
