Kensington Slim NanoSaver 2.0 Keyed Laptop Lock — for the Nano Security Slot
Nano Security Slot1.8 m carbon steel cableKeyed · Hidden PinSlim head
The Kensington Slim NanoSaver 2.0 Keyed Laptop Lock (K65021WW) is a keyed cable lock for laptops with a Kensington Nano Security Slot, using a 1.8 m carbon steel cable and a slim head that lets ultra-thin and 2-in-1 notebooks lie flat on the desk. It is aimed at offices, schools, hot-desks and public counters where a laptop has to stay where it was left.
The Nano slot is roughly 70% smaller than the classic Kensington slot, which is why many thin Dell, HP and Lenovo business laptops now ship with it. This lock grips the inside walls of that small slot with Kensington’s Cleat Locking Technology, so it does not need the deeper opening of a standard slot.
Before you order: Check the slot on your laptop first. This lock fits only the Nano Security Slot (a small, almost square opening). It does not fit the standard Kensington slot (rectangular, about 7 x 3 mm) or the Noble/Wedge slot used on some newer laptops.
What's in the Box
- Slim NanoSaver 2.0 keyed lock head with 1.8 m carbon steel cable
- Keys (key number for Register & Retrieve replacement)
- Kensington documentation
What It Means in Practice
- Loop the cable around a fixed object such as a desk leg, pass the lock head through the loop and insert it into the Nano slot, then turn the key.
- The slim, off-centre head does not lift the laptop, so ultra-thin models stay level for typing and do not block nearby ports.
- If a key is lost, Kensington’s Register & Retrieve service can supply a replacement for a registered key number.
- Kensington positions its locks as a physical control that helps organisations meet ISO/IEC 27001 Annex A device-security requirements.
What Will Not Work
- Laptops with a standard Kensington slot or a Wedge/Noble slot — the head will not seat.
- Laptops with no security slot at all — use a Kensington lock plate or adapter kit instead.
- Monitors, docks or desktop PCs with a standard slot — choose a standard-slot keyed lock.
- It is a deterrent against grab-and-go theft, not a replacement for disk encryption or remote device management.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know my laptop has a Nano slot?
The Nano Security Slot is a small, nearly square opening on the side of the laptop, usually marked with a padlock icon. The standard Kensington slot is visibly wider and rectangular. If in doubt, send us the laptop model and we will check.
Can the same lock move to another laptop?
Yes, as long as the other laptop also has a Nano slot. A laptop with a standard slot needs a different lock.
Is there a combination version?
Yes, Kensington makes combination Slim NanoSaver models. Choose keyed when an administrator should hold the keys, combination when each user sets their own code.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The keyed Slim NanoSaver 2.0 is the right lock when the laptop has the small Nano slot and IT wants control of the keys. The most common mistake is ordering it for a laptop that actually has a standard or Wedge slot, so confirm the slot before buying. For a complete desk setup, pair it with one of our
laptop docking stations.
✓ Buy it if your laptop has a Kensington Nano Security Slot and you want a keyed, slim-head cable lock.
✕ Skip it if your laptop has a standard Kensington slot or a Wedge slot — pick a lock made for that slot.
→ Also consider a combination Slim NanoSaver if you prefer user-set codes over keys.
