Kensington SP17 Classic Laptop Sleeve
Up to 17-inchPadded compartmentFile pocketTwo exterior pocketsShoulder strap
The SP17 is the 17-inch member of Kensington's long-running Simply Portable range. It sits between a sleeve and a bag: a zipped padded case for the laptop, with an interior file pocket and exterior pockets front and back, plus carry handles and a shoulder strap.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Kensington rates it for notebooks up to 17 inches (43.2 cm). Some listings widen this to "15 to 17 inch". Be aware that published dimensions for this case vary considerably between sources, so measure your laptop and treat the figures below as indicative.
Best For
✓ Owners of large 17-inch notebooks, which few cases fit
✓ Anyone who wants pockets without carrying a full backpack
✓ Carrying a laptop plus documents in one slim case
Key Features
Sized for 17-inch notebooks
A genuinely large case. Seventeen-inch machines are poorly served by most sleeve ranges, and this one is built for them.
Padded laptop compartment
The main section is padded to absorb knocks, so the case works on its own rather than only inside a bigger bag.
Interior file pocket
A separate internal pocket takes documents or a folder without them pressing against the laptop.
Front and rear exterior pockets
Two outside sections for a charger, a mouse and small items that you want to reach without opening the main compartment.
Carry handles plus shoulder strap
Two handles for short carries and a padded shoulder strap for longer ones.
Part of the Simply Portable range
A legacy Kensington line with a long production history; other sizes in the range include the SP25 backpack and SP80 topload.

Singular Expert Insight
This is the least well-documented product we have catalogued in a while, and buyers deserve to know that before ordering. Four incompatible dimension sets circulate. Five different weights. Polyester in the US channel and neoprene in the UK channel. Three different warranty terms across three retailers. And on lifecycle: Kensington still hosts a live, priced product page, while B&H marks it "No Longer Available" and CCL in the UK marks it "Discontinued". None of that means the case is bad — the SP range has been sold for many years and 17-inch cases are genuinely hard to find — but it does mean we will not print a single confident spec table for it. What is consistent everywhere: black, 17-inch, padded, zipped, with a file pocket, two exterior pockets and a shoulder strap.
