Kingston DataTraveler Exodia S 64 GB — Swivel Cap, 57 mm, 8.72 g

64 GBUSB 3.2 Gen 1Swivel cap, capless5-year Kingston warranty

The Kingston DataTraveler Exodia S is a 64 GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive with a rotating cap rather than a removable one — push it round with a thumb and the connector appears. At 57 x 19 x 11.8 mm and 8.72 g it is the smallest and lightest drive in Kingston’s Exodia range, and Kingston positions it as its entry-level USB 3.2 Gen 1 drive. It carries Kingston’s five-year warranty with free technical support.

Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a full-size drive for computers — Kingston describes it as being for laptops, desktop PCs and other digital devices. There is no USB-C connector and no adapter in the pack, so it will not enter a phone or a USB-C-only laptop. ???? Kingston sells four Exodia drives that differ only in how the connector is protected, and the part numbers are a single letter apart. DTX has a detachable cap you can lose. DTXM has a moving cap. DTXS — this one — has a swivel cap. DTXG2 has a snap-on cap and a coloured keyring hole. Worse, DTX and DTXG2 are both sold under the identical name “DataTraveler Exodia”, so the name alone will not tell you what you are getting. Order by part number. Also watch for the -2P suffix elsewhere in the range (for example DTXM/64GB-2P): that is a two-pack at this same capacity, not a 128 GB drive. One honest gap: Kingston publishes no MB/s figure for any Exodia at any capacity — only the USB 3.2 Gen 1 standard, with the note that speed varies with the host and device.

Best For

✓ Everyday transport of documents, photographs and installers
✓ Buyers who want a major-brand drive with a real five-year term
✓ The smallest and lightest of the Exodia bodies — bags and pockets
✓ Machines and laptops with USB-A ports
✓ Anyone who has lost a detachable cap before
✓ Buying several at once for an office or a classroom

Key Features

Swivel cap, nothing to lose
The cap rotates around the connector rather than pulling off. Of the four Exodia bodies this is the one with the fewest ways to go wrong.

Smallest of the family
57 x 19 x 11.8 mm and 8.72 g, against 67.3 mm and 11 g for the original DTX. If the drive lives in a pocket, that difference is noticeable.

Five years, with support
Kingston covers the drive for five years and includes free technical support — the same term across its whole DataTraveler range, and longer than most drives on this shelf.

Goes to 512 GB
The Exodia S reaches further than the original Exodia, which stops at 256 GB. If you might need a much larger drive later in the same body, this line and the G2 are the ones to standardise on.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I tell the Exodia models apart?
By the cap, and only by the part number. DTX detachable, DTXM moving, DTXS swivel (this one), DTXG2 snap-on with a keyring hole. Kingston sells DTX and DTXG2 under the identical name, so the name will not help. If you are re-ordering to match drives you already have, send us the code printed on one.
Why is there no transfer speed on this page?
Because Kingston publishes none for the Exodia range — not per capacity, not as a family figure. Its specification gives the USB 3.2 Gen 1 standard and a note that performance depends on the host. Any MB/s number you see quoted for an Exodia came from a reseller, not from Kingston.
What colour will I receive?
Kingston says the Exodia S comes in a range of colours that correspond to capacity, but does not publish which colour goes with which size. If the colour matters, ask us to check the stock we hold before you order.
Will it work with my phone?
No, not on its own. This is a full-size drive for computers and no USB-C adapter is included. A phone needs a drive with a USB-C connector on one end.
Singular Expert Insight
The Exodia S is Kingston’s entry-level USB 3.2 Gen 1 stick and a sensible default for anyone who wants a known brand and a long warranty rather than the last word in speed. The swivel cap is the right choice of the four Exodia bodies — nothing detaches, and it is the smallest and lightest of them, which matters if it lives in a pocket. The catch is that Kingston will not print a number, so you cannot line this drive up against one that does. If speed is what you are comparing, look at drives in our USB flash drives range whose makers publish per capacity; if the five-year term and the brand are what you want, this is the one. For large working files rather than carried ones, an external SSD is the right class of product.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You want a 64 GB stick from a major brand with a swivel cap you cannot lose, in the smallest Exodia body, with a five-year warranty and support.

Skip it if

You compare drives by published MB/s — Kingston publishes none for this range. Or you need a USB-C connector.

Also consider

Kingston DataTraveler Exodia G2 (DTXG2) if you prefer a snap-on cap with a coloured keyring hole. The 128, 256 or 512 GB Exodia S if 64 GB is tight. A USB-C drive if a phone is involved.
