Kingston DataTraveler microDuo 3C 128 GB — USB-C and USB-A
Dual USB-C and USB-AUp to 200 MB/s read29.94 mm long5-year Kingston warranty
The Kingston DataTraveler microDuo 3C (DTDUO3CG3/128GB) is a 128 GB drive with a USB-C plug at one end and a USB-A plug at the other, so a phone and a desktop are both one plug away. Kingston publishes up to 200 MB/s read over USB 3.2 Gen 1, and the whole thing is under 30 mm long with a rotating cap that covers whichever connector you are not using. It is the drive to buy when files need to move off a phone and onto a computer without cables, cloud accounts or adapters.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Kingston publishes read speed only — up to 200 MB/s — and no write speed for any capacity of the microDuo 3C. Expect writing to be slower, and do not plan a workflow around a write figure nobody has stated. The 200 MB/s read is the same at 64, 128 and 256 GB, so buying a larger capacity will not make it faster. To use it with a phone or tablet, the device needs a USB-C port and USB OTG support, which almost all recent Android devices have; iPhones with USB-C work as standard storage in the Files app. Do not confuse it with the DataTraveler Micro (DTMC3G2) — the names are one word apart, but the Micro has a single connector and no USB-C at all, so it will not plug into a phone.
Best For
✓ Getting photos and video off a phone
✓ Moving files between a tablet and a laptop
✓ Travelling without a laptop
✓ Handing files to someone on a different platform
✓ Freeing up phone storage without the cloud
✓ A drive that fits both old and new ports
Key Features
A plug for each end
USB-C on one side, USB-A on the other, with a rotating cap that protects whichever one is idle. No adapter, no dongle, nothing extra to lose.
Up to 200 MB/s read
Kingston publishes 200 MB/s read over USB 3.2 Gen 1, and the same figure at every capacity in the range. It states no write figure, so treat 200 MB/s as the read ceiling and expect the write side to be slower.
Small enough to forget
29.94 × 16.60 × 8.44 mm. It disappears into a coin pocket, and plugged into a phone it does not lever against the port the way a full-size drive would.
Five years of cover
Kingston publishes a five-year warranty with free technical support — unusual on a drive designed to be carried loose.

Singular Expert Insight
Dual-connector drives live or die on the details, and Kingston gets two of them right here: a rotating cap that protects the idle plug without being a separate piece to lose, and a body short enough that it does not lever on a phone port. The published 200 MB/s read is real and flat across capacities, so there is no upsell argument for a bigger drive. The gap is the missing write figure — nobody, including Kingston, states one, so if you routinely dump large video off a phone, expect that side to be the slow half. The name is the other thing to watch: the DataTraveler Micro sounds almost identical and has no USB-C. Tell us which phone and which laptop you are bridging and we will confirm it before you order. If you are buying several, tell us the mix of phones and laptops in the office and we will confirm one part number covers all of them.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need to move files directly between a USB-C phone or tablet and a USB-A computer, 128 GB is the right size, and a published 200 MB/s read plus five years of cover suits you.
Skip it if
Your phone still uses micro-USB, you need a published write speed to plan a workflow around, or you only ever use USB-A computers and are paying for a connector you will not touch.
Also consider
Kingston’s DataTraveler SE9 G3 if only USB-A matters and you want published read and write speeds, or the Silicon Power Mobile C80 for another dual-connector drive in a metal swivel body.
