Kingston Server Premier 32GB DDR5-5600 ECC Unbuffered DIMM — For Workstations and Entry Servers
32GB 2Rx8DDR5 5600 CL46ECC Unbuffered (UDIMM)Micron H-die · DRAM Lock
The Kingston Server Premier KSM56E46BD8-32MH is a 32GB DDR5-5600 ECC unbuffered DIMM (UDIMM) with CL46 timings at 1.1V, for entry servers and workstations whose platform specifies DDR5 ECC UDIMM memory. It is organised as dual-rank x8 (2Rx8) with twenty Micron DRAM chips.
Unlike desktop DDR5, which only has on-die ECC, this module adds true sideband ECC (x72, two 36-bit sub-channels) so the memory controller can detect and correct errors — the reason servers and storage boxes use it. Kingston locks the DRAM supplier and die revision (Micron, H-die) for this part number, which keeps future orders consistent when you expand a fleet.
Before you order: ECC UDIMM is not interchangeable with RDIMM (registered) memory. Check that your server or workstation board lists DDR5 ECC unbuffered DIMMs before ordering.
What's in the Box
- 1 x Kingston Server Premier 32GB DDR5-5600 ECC UDIMM (KSM56E46BD8-32MH)
What It Means in Practice
- Systems that support ECC UDIMM can correct single-bit memory errors on the fly — important for file servers, NAS builds and virtual machines that run 24/7.
- The fixed Micron H-die "DRAM Lock" means modules bought months apart match the ones already installed.
- In a platform rated below 5600 MT/s the module runs at the lower supported speed.
- No heatspreader: it is designed for server airflow, and at 31.25 mm tall it suits 1U and 2U chassis.
What Will Not Work
- It does not work in RDIMM (registered) servers such as most dual-socket Xeon Scalable or EPYC 9004 systems.
- It is not a gaming module — no XMP or EXPO profile and no heatspreader.
- Many consumer desktop boards accept the module but ignore ECC; you only get error correction if the CPU and board support it.
- It does not fit laptops or SO-DIMM slots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it in a normal desktop?
It will often work in DDR5 desktop boards, but ECC only functions if both CPU and board support ECC UDIMM. Ask us with your board model.
Can I mix it with RDIMMs?
No. ECC UDIMM and RDIMM cannot be mixed and are not interchangeable.
Why does the part number end in MH?
It locks the DRAM to Micron H-die, so repeat orders use the same chips as your installed modules.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Server Premier ECC UDIMM is the right memory for small business servers and workstations where uptime matters. The key check is UDIMM vs RDIMM — get that wrong and the system will not boot. More modules are in our
memory (RAM) section.
✓ Buy it if your server or workstation board specifies DDR5 ECC unbuffered DIMMs.
✕ Skip it if your server takes registered (RDIMM) memory, or you are building a gaming PC.
→ Also consider Kingston Server Premier RDIMMs for dual-socket or registered-memory servers.
Send us your server or motherboard model and we will confirm the exact memory type and maximum speed before you order.
