The Kingston IronKey Locker+ 50 G2 IKLP50G2/128GB is a 128 GB USB-A flash drive with hardware encryption: everything you save is encrypted with FIPS 197 certified AES 256-bit in XTS mode, and the drive only opens with your password. It reads at up to 145 MB/s and writes at up to 115 MB/s over USB 3.2 Gen 1. You can set an Admin and a User password, with complex or passphrase mode, and after 10 wrong Admin attempts the drive crypto-erases itself. In practice it lets you carry client files, contracts or a full laptop backup of documents so that a lost drive does not become a data leak. The metal casing has a key loop and an anti-fingerprint finish.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Windows 11 and macOS 13 to 26 only. The unlock app runs from the drive itself (no installation), but Kingston does not list Linux, ChromeOS, tablets, phones, TVs or car stereos — on those it will not unlock. It needs two free consecutive drive letters in Windows. The plug is USB-A; a USB-C-only laptop needs an adapter. It is FIPS 197 (algorithm), not FIPS 140-3 validated — if your organisation requires FIPS 140-3, choose the IronKey Keypad 200 or D500S. Forget both passwords and the data is gone: there is no recovery. Tell us your requirement and we suggest the right model.

What happens if I forget my password?
If you set up an Admin password, the Admin can unlock the drive and reset the User password. If both are lost, the data cannot be recovered; after 10 wrong Admin attempts the drive erases itself.
Does it work on Linux or Chromebook?
Kingston lists only Windows 11 and macOS 13 to 26. The unlock app does not run on Linux, ChromeOS, phones or tablets, so the drive will not open there.
Is it FIPS 140-3 certified?
No. It uses FIPS 197 certified AES encryption, which is an algorithm certification. For FIPS 140-3 validated drives, choose the IronKey Keypad 200 or D500S.
Is 128 GB the right size?
For documents, spreadsheets and photos, 128 GB is plenty. For large video files or full backups, the 256 GB IKLP50G2/256GB gives double the space at the same speed.
