The KIOXIA EXCERIA BASIC 1TB (LSF10Z001TG8) is an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD on PCIe 4.0 x4 that reads at up to 7,200 MB/s and writes at up to 6,600 MB/s, made for budget upgrades and new builds on PCIe 4.0 desktops and laptops.
EXCERIA BASIC is the entry line of KIOXIA’s consumer range: QLC flash plus Host Memory Buffer support give 7,000+ MB/s reads at a lower price per GB than TLC drives.
Before you order: This is a PCIe 4.0 x4 drive: in a PCIe 3.0 slot it works, but at about half its rated read speed. It needs an M.2 slot that supports NVMe — SATA-only M.2 slots will not detect it.

What It Means in Practice
- Windows boots, games and large projects load fast enough for everyday work, gaming and content creation; 7,200 MB/s is the sequential read rating, random performance is 1,000,000 / 1,150,000 IOPS.
- 300 TB TBW endurance: that is about 165 GB written every day for five years before the warranty's write limit is reached.
- Single-sided 2.38 mm design fits slim laptops and boards with M.2 shields; 3.8 W typical active power.
- It uses QLC NAND: great value per GB for games and libraries, but KIOXIA does not publish the speed after the write cache fills, so constant multi-hundred-GB writes are a job for a TLC drive.
What Will Not Work
- SATA-only M.2 slots (B+M key SATA) — the drive is NVMe and will not be detected
- M.2 slots limited to 2230 or 2242 length — this is a full 80 mm 2280 drive
- Its rated 7,000+ MB/s in a PCIe 3.0 slot — it falls back to about 3,500 MB/s
- Systems without NVMe boot support (very old BIOS) — usable as a data drive only
