The KMP B-DR27 (KMP article 1261,7000) is a compatible drum unit that replaces the Brother DR-2300 in Brother's compact mono laser printers - the HL-L2300D, HL-L2340DW, HL-L2360DN, HL-L2365DW, HL-L2380DW, DCP-L2500D, DCP-L2520DW, DCP-L2540DN, DCP-L2560DW and MFC-L2700DN/2720DW/2740DW families. It is a cost-effective way to restore clean prints when the original drum is worn.
The drum transfers toner onto the page and wears with every print. Grey backgrounds, dots or marks repeating down the page with a good toner cartridge fitted are the usual signs it is time to replace it.
Before you order: B-DR27 is the drum only and works with your existing toner cartridge, which clips into the new drum. The newer HL-L2310D / HL-L2350DW / MFC-L2730DW generation uses the DR-2400 drum and is not covered.

What It Means in Practice
- Move the toner cartridge from the old drum to the new one, refit and reset the drum counter as described in the Brother user guide.
- Brother rates its genuine DR-2300 at approx. 12,000 pages (one page per job); KMP does not publish a separate yield for this drum.
- KMP lists no chip for this drum, matching how these Brother printers track drum life with a counter you reset after replacement.
What Will Not Work
- Not for HL-L2310D, HL-L2350DW, HL-L2375DW, DCP-L2530DW, DCP-L2550DN, MFC-L2730DW or MFC-L2750DW (DR-2400 drum).
- It contains no toner and will not cure faults caused by an empty or damaged toner cartridge.
- Not for Brother colour lasers or the larger HL-L5000/HL-L6000 series.
