Lenovo 4K Pro Webcam — 4K at 30 fps with a Sony STARVIS2 Sensor

4K at 30 fpsSony STARVIS2 8 MP65° / 78° / 90° switchableTeams certified

The 4K Pro is the top of Lenovo’s webcam range: an 8 megapixel Sony STARVIS2 sensor on a 1/1.8 inch die, autofocus from 10 cm, a field of view you switch between 65, 78 and 90 degrees, 4x digital zoom, HDR and 3D noise reduction. It has a physical privacy shutter, a detachable USB-C cable with a USB-A converter in the box, and Microsoft Teams certification. Lenovo covers it for three years as a customer-replaceable unit.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Two things decide whether you get what you paid for. First, this camera needs a USB 3.0 port — Lenovo states it explicitly. Plug it into USB 2.0 and 4K is not available. Second, it has one microphone, not a pair; the much cheaper Lenovo FHD Webcam has two. There is no Windows Hello and no infrared sensor on this model. Lenovo lists Windows 11 only — no macOS support is published, and the LADM management app is Windows software. Two of Lenovo’s own documents disagree on the cable (1.5 m in the shipment list, 2 m in the datasheet) and on the weight (104 g against 115 g), so treat those as approximate. There is a tripod mount but no monitor clip specified.

Best For

✓ Recording and capture where 4K detail is worth keeping
✓ Presenting to a room where you want the option of a 90 degree frame
✓ Difficult lighting — HDR plus 3D noise reduction and Face AE/AF
✓ Teams desks in a Lenovo estate managed with LADM
✓ Anyone who wants a genuinely current sensor rather than a 1080p rebadge

Key Features

4K at a real 30 fps
Lenovo publishes 4K at 30 frames per second in MJPEG on both the support page and the datasheet. Many 4K webcams drop to 15 fps at full resolution; this one does not.

A Sony STARVIS2 sensor
8 megapixels on a 1/1.8 inch STARVIS2 die — a low-light sensor family, paired with HDR and 3D noise reduction. This is the reason a dim room still looks clean.

Three fields of view and 4x zoom
Switch between 65, 78 and 90 degrees, then crop further with 4x digital zoom. Autofocus works from 10 cm to infinity, so a document held up stays sharp.

Shutter, AI framing and a replaceable cable
A physical privacy shutter, auto-framing and AI noise suppression, and a detachable USB-C cable with a USB-A converter — a damaged cable does not scrap the camera.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I get 4K on any laptop?
Only on a USB 3.0 port. Lenovo states USB 3.0 as the hardware requirement; on a USB 2.0 socket the camera works but not at 4K. Check the port colour or the specification, and ask us if you are unsure.
4K Pro or the QHD model?
Port and sensor. The QHD runs on USB 2.0 with a 4 megapixel sensor; the 4K Pro needs USB 3.0 and has the 8 megapixel Sony STARVIS2. If your machine has no USB 3.0 socket free, the QHD is the sensible buy.
Does it sign me into Windows with my face?
No. There is no infrared sensor on this model, so Windows Hello face sign-in is not available.
Only one microphone on the flagship?
Yes — Lenovo publishes one directional microphone with AI noise cancellation and a 2 m pickup. The cheaper Lenovo FHD Webcam has two. If audio matters more than picture, that is worth knowing.
Singular Expert Insight
The sensor is the story here. A Sony STARVIS2 on a 1/1.8 inch die is a genuinely large piece of silicon for a webcam, and it is why this camera holds together in a dim office where a 1080p unit turns to noise. Lenovo has been sensible about the rest too — switchable framing, a real shutter, a cable you can replace. The two things to check before ordering are a free USB 3.0 port and whether one microphone is enough for you. If the answer to either is no, look at the Lenovo QHD or the FHD Webcam instead. A powered USB 3.0 hub solves the port problem if the machine has one spare.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You want genuine 4K at 30 fps on a large modern sensor, with switchable framing and a three-year warranty, on a Windows machine with USB 3.0.

Skip it if

Skip it if your machine has no free USB 3.0 port, if you need two microphones, if you need macOS, or if you want Windows Hello.

Also consider

Lenovo QHD Webcam if USB 2.0 is all you have, or Lenovo FHD Webcam for two microphones and a lower price.
