The Lenovo ThinkBook 16p G6 ADR is the creator machine of the ThinkBook range, and the screen is where that shows. Its 16-inch WQXGA panel runs 2560x1600 at 240 Hz, reaches 500 nits, covers 100% of DCI-P3, carries DisplayHDR 400 and G-SYNC, and arrives X-Rite factory calibrated and Pantone validated. Behind it sit a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 with 8GB of GDDR7 at a 115 W TGP, 32GB of DDR5 and an 85 Wh battery, in an all-aluminium body under 2.15 kg. It is built for video editing, 3D, photography and rendering.

Compatibility — check before buying:

On a business machine that is a real gap; check it against your policy first. The security chip is firmware TPM 2.0, not discrete. ???? There is no ethernet port and power comes from a 300 W slim-tip adapter, not USB-C — that is a large brick to carry, although both USB-C ports accept 95–100 W power delivery for lighter charging. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sign in without a fingerprint reader or face recognition?

By password or PIN. This model has neither a fingerprint reader nor an infrared camera, so Windows Hello biometric sign-in is not available. It is the clearest difference from the standard ThinkBook 14 and 16 models, which have both.

Can it charge over USB-C?

Both USB-C ports accept 95–100 W of power delivery, which will run and charge the machine for light work. Under full load the RTX 5060 and the 16-core processor need the supplied 300 W slim-tip adapter, so the brick still travels with the laptop for demanding sessions.

Is the screen really calibrated?

Yes. Lenovo specifies X-Rite factory colour calibration on this panel, along with Pantone Validated and Pantone SkinTone Validated certification, 100% DCI-P3 coverage and DisplayHDR 400. The standard ThinkBook models are 45% NTSC with no calibration at all.

Can I upgrade the memory?

To 64GB, but by replacement. Both SODIMM slots are filled with 16GB modules, so the upgrade means two new 32GB modules. Storage is easier — the fitted drive is a short 2242 card in a 2280 slot, so a second full-length SSD of up to 2TB fits alongside it.

Singular Expert Insight

This is a different machine from the rest of the ThinkBook range, and the specification sheet only half explains it. The screen alone justifies the model: 2560x1600 at 240 Hz with 100% DCI-P3, X-Rite calibration and Pantone validation, where every other ThinkBook and ThinkPad here ships a 45% NTSC panel with no calibration. Add sixteen cores and an RTX 5060 and it does video, 3D and rendering work that none of the others will attempt. What Lenovo removed to get there is worth knowing before you commit: no fingerprint reader, no IR camera, no ethernet, a firmware TPM and a 720p webcam. For a creator that is an acceptable trade; for a managed corporate fleet with a biometric sign-in policy it is not. Buy it if

Your work is video, 3D, photography or rendering, and a calibrated 100% DCI-P3 240 Hz screen with an RTX 5060 and sixteen cores is what you actually need. The all-aluminium build and 85 Wh battery suit long sessions.

Skip it if

Your policy requires biometric sign-in or a discrete TPM, you need an ethernet port, or you would rather not carry a 300 W power brick. For office work the standard ThinkBook 16 is the sensible buy.
