Lenovo ThinkPad L16 Gen 3 — Built-in 4G, 32GB and a Terabyte, With Onsite Cover Included
Intel Core Ultra 7 355, Copilot+ PC4G LTE with embedded eSIM built in32GB DDR5-5600 and 1TB NVMe3-year onsite upgrade included
The Lenovo ThinkPad L16 Gen 3 in this configuration is a 16-inch business notebook with mobile broadband already inside it. A Snapdragon X12 LTE modem with an embedded eSIM means it connects on the move without a hotspot, a dongle or a second device. Behind that sits an Intel Core Ultra 7 355 with a 49 TOPS neural processor, 32GB of DDR5-5600 in dual channel, and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive with Opal 2.0 hardware encryption. It runs Windows 11 Pro, passes MIL-STD-810H testing, and carries a discrete TPM 2.0 chip. It is aimed at field staff, consultants and anyone whose work does not stay in one building.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Two things about this specific configuration that are easy to miss. Both memory slots are already full — the 32GB comes as 2x16GB, so reaching the 64GB maximum means replacing both modules rather than adding one. If you expect to need more memory later, the Ultra 5 model with a single 32GB module leaves a slot free. Second, there is no fingerprint reader and no smart card reader on this model: sign-in is by the IR camera with Windows Hello, or by password. If your organisation requires smart card or fingerprint authentication, this is the wrong part number and we will find you the right one. Also note the 45% NTSC, 60 Hz display — bright and matte at 400 nits, but a business panel, not a colour-accurate one. No physical SIM is included (the eSIM is embedded and a nano-SIM slot is fitted), and the machine is Non-vPro.
Best For
✓ Field staff, auditors and consultants who work away from an office
✓ Anyone who needs a connection without hunting for Wi-Fi
✓ Windows 11 Pro fleets using Windows Hello facial sign-in
✓ Work with large files that benefits from a 1TB local drive
✓ Copilot+ workloads running on the 49 TOPS NPU
✓ Travel where a hotspot or tethering is a daily nuisance
Key Features
Mobile broadband already inside
A Snapdragon X12 LTE modem with 4G LTE CAT6 and an embedded eSIM. Activate a data plan and the laptop is online in a car, a client site or a train, with no dongle and no tethering.
Dual-channel 32GB and a full terabyte
The 32GB is fitted as two 16GB DDR5-5600 modules running in dual channel, paired with a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD carrying Opal 2.0 hardware encryption.
A Copilot+ class processor
The Core Ultra 7 355 is an 8-core part (4 performance plus 4 low-power efficiency cores) reaching 4.7 GHz, with a neural processor rated up to 49 TOPS — enough for on-device AI features to run locally.
Ports that mean no dongle bag
Two Thunderbolt 4 ports with DisplayPort 2.1 and 15–65 W power delivery, three USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1 at 4K/60, gigabit ethernet and a 3.5 mm combo jack. The 65 W charger is USB-C, so any Thunderbolt port charges it.

Singular Expert Insight
Two ThinkPad L16 Gen 3 configurations sit next to each other and they are not the same machine underneath. This one buys you the faster Ultra 7, twice the storage and built-in 4G — and gives up the fingerprint reader, the smart card reader and the free memory slot to do it. That is a genuine fork in the road, not a price ladder: field staff want the modem, office fleets with a security policy usually want the readers. Decide which of those you are before comparing prices. The 65 W adapter charges over USB-C, so at the desk a Thunderbolt dock can take over from it entirely, and spare chargers are in our laptop power supply range.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Your work happens away from a desk and a built-in 4G connection would save you daily hassle. The Ultra 7, 32GB in dual channel, 1TB drive and included 3-year onsite cover make it a machine you can hand to someone for a full deployment cycle.
Skip it if
Your security policy needs fingerprint or smart card sign-in, you want a free memory slot for later, or your work depends on colour accuracy — the 45% NTSC panel is not for that.
Also consider
The Ultra 5 L16 Gen 3 with a single 32GB module, a fingerprint reader and a smart card reader if office security matters more than mobility. A ThinkPad T Series model for a wider-gamut display and vPro management.
