Lenovo ThinkVision MC60 (S) — Monitor Webcam with Switchable Field of View

1080p at 30 fps65° / 78° / 90° switchableAutofocus with 4x zoomHardware mic switch

The ThinkVision MC60 (S) is built to sit on a monitor rather than clip to anything. It shoots 1080p at 30 fps through an autofocus lens whose field of view you can switch between 65, 78 and 90 degrees, has two microphones with noise cancellation, a built-in privacy shutter and an anti-theft lock with a key in the box. The three-position microphone switch on the body is the feature nobody else offers.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The (S) means short stand and it decides whether this camera seats properly on your screen. Lenovo sells the same camera with a longer stand as 4XC1J05150; the short version is intended for monitors such as the P49w-30, T34w-30, P24h-30 and P24q-30, and the long version for the P32p-30 and T32p-30 families. Order the wrong one and it will not sit correctly. There is no Windows Hello face sign-in on this model. The connection is USB-A and Lenovo does not publish the cable length for the MC60, so plan the run with that in mind. Lenovo also does not publish a warranty term for this part — a warranty booklet ships in the box.

Best For

✓ Monitor-mounted meeting setups in offices and meeting rooms
✓ Desks where the camera must switch between a single face and a small group
✓ Shared or public workstations that need an anti-theft lock
✓ Anyone who wants a hardware mute rather than a software one
✓ Lenovo ThinkVision monitor estates

Key Features

Three fields of view on one camera
Switch between 65, 78 and 90 degrees to go from a tight head-and-shoulders framing to a view that takes in a colleague beside you. Most webcams give you one fixed angle and a digital crop.

A microphone switch you can see
A physical three-position switch — Off, Conference and Private — on the camera body. Two built-in microphones with noise cancellation pick up voices from up to two metres.

Privacy shutter and anti-theft lock
A built-in shutter closes the lens, and a lock with its own key secures the camera to the monitor. That combination is aimed squarely at shared desks and public-facing rooms.

Autofocus with 4x zoom
An autofocus lens on a 1/2.9 inch sensor, with 4x digital zoom and tilt through 25 degrees up and down for getting the angle right on a tall monitor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the (S) mean and does it matter?
It means the short-stand version, and yes. Lenovo builds the same camera on two stand lengths so it seats correctly on different monitor bezels. The long-stand part is 4XC1J05150. Tell us your monitor model and we will confirm which one fits.
Can I use it on a laptop instead of a monitor?
It is designed to sit on a display and comes with a stand for that. There is no universal laptop clip in the box, so on a laptop it will need somewhere flat to stand.
What does the Private position on the mic switch do?
It is a hardware setting on the camera rather than a software mute, so the state does not depend on what the meeting application thinks. Off, Conference and Private are the three positions Lenovo publishes.
Does it sign me into Windows with my face?
No. There is no Windows Hello support on this model. If face sign-in is the requirement, tell us and we will suggest a camera with an infrared sensor.
Singular Expert Insight
Most webcams are clip-on accessories that happen to sit on a monitor. This one is built the other way round, and the details follow from that: a stand sized to a specific bezel, a lock with a key, a hardware microphone switch. If you are fitting out meeting rooms or shared desks that is exactly the right set of priorities, and the switchable 65/78/90 degree view removes the usual compromise between framing one person and framing two. The two things to settle before ordering are the stand length and the absence of Windows Hello. If the camera will move between machines instead, a clip-on model with a USB hub on the desk is the easier life.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You are fitting a camera to a monitor, you want to change the framing without moving the camera, and a lock and a hardware mic switch are worth having.

Skip it if

Skip it if you need Windows Hello, if the camera must clip to a laptop lid, or if you cannot confirm which stand length your monitor takes.

Also consider

Lenovo ThinkVision MC60 with the long stand (4XC1J05150) for larger monitors, or the MC50 if a fixed 90 degree view is enough.
