LevelOne POS-5000 — Gigabit IEEE 802.3bt PoE++ Splitter

IEEE 802.3bt input12 / 24 V DC outUp to 60 WGigabit data

The LevelOne POS-5000 is a Gigabit PoE++ splitter that separates a single PoE cable into Gigabit Ethernet data and a 12 V or 24 V DC power output, so a non-PoE IP camera, access point or small network device can be installed where there is no power outlet. It accepts IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt PoE and can deliver up to 60 W from a PoE++ source.

A DIP switch selects 12 V or 24 V on the DC output, and the compact 80 × 53 × 24 mm black housing fits behind a camera, inside a ceiling void or in a small enclosure. Short-circuit protection safeguards the connected equipment.

Before you order: The 60 W figure needs an IEEE 802.3bt (PoE++) switch or injector. On an 802.3at (PoE+) port the available power is roughly half, and on 802.3af much less — check your device's consumption against your PoE source.

What's in the Box

  • LevelOne POS-5000 PoE splitter
  • DC output cable
  • LAN (RJ45) cable

What It Means in Practice

  • Run one Ethernet cable from a PoE++ switch to a remote 12 V or 24 V device — the splitter feeds both its network port and its power input.
  • Set the DIP switch to the device's voltage before connecting; feeding a 12 V device with 24 V can damage it.
  • It is rated for 0–40 °C, so use it indoors or inside a weatherproof enclosure.
  • Total distance from the PoE switch to the splitter can be up to the usual 100 m Ethernet limit.

What Will Not Work

  • It does not create PoE — it needs a PoE switch or injector on its input.
  • It does not output 5 V or 48 V; only 12 V or 24 V.
  • It is not weatherproof and not rated below 0 °C, so it is not for exposed outdoor mounting.
  • A device that needs more than your PoE source can deliver will not run reliably.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use it with a PoE+ (802.3at) switch?
Yes, it is backward compatible, but the output is limited to what a PoE+ port supplies (about 25 W after losses) instead of 60 W.
Which voltage should I choose?
The one printed on your device's power adapter or label — 12 V for most cameras and small access points, 24 V for some industrial devices.
Does the device still get network?
Yes, the data port passes Gigabit Ethernet straight through to the device.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
A splitter is the simplest way to put a non-PoE device on a PoE network, but the source decides the result: a 60 W device needs an 802.3bt port. Pair it with a PoE++ switch from our switches range and match the DIP setting to the device label.
✓ Buy it if you need to power a 12 V or 24 V non-PoE camera or access point indoors from an existing PoE switch.
✕ Skip it if the device already supports PoE, needs 5 V or 48 V, or will be mounted outdoors without an enclosure.
→ Also consider TRENDnet TI-SG104 for an industrial DIN-rail splitter with 12/16/24/48 V output and -40 to 75 °C rating.
Not sure which voltage your device needs? Send us the model and we will check before you order.
