The LevelOne GVM-2002 is a smart managed Gigabit media converter that bridges a 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 copper port to a single-mode fiber SC port, extending Ethernet up to 20 km between buildings, floors or equipment rooms. Part number GVM-2002 is the single-mode SC model of the GVM-2000 series.

Unlike plain unmanaged converters, it can be managed via web or SNMP, with QoS, VLAN (including Q-in-Q), IGMP, ERPS and ACL functions, so the fiber link can be monitored and segmented like a switch port. It runs from the included 5 V adapter or slides into the LevelOne CVH-2000 19-inch 14-slot chassis for central installs.

Compatibility note: Built-in SC single-mode optics: use single-mode (OS1/OS2) duplex SC fiber, and pair it with a matching single-mode converter or switch module at the far end. It will not work over multi-mode fiber.

No. The GVM-2002 has single-mode optics. For multi-mode fiber up to 500 m choose the GVM-2001, or the GVM-2000 with a suitable SFP module.
What do I need at the other end of the fiber?
Another single-mode Gigabit device with SC connection and compatible optics — typically a second GVM-2002 or a switch with a matching single-mode SFP.
What is the difference between the GVM-2002 and the GVM-2000?
The GVM-2002 has fixed SC single-mode optics for 20 km; the GVM-2000 has an empty SFP slot so you can choose any 100M/1G single- or multi-mode SFP module.
