The Lexmark 79L2HM0 is an original magenta toner cartridge rated at up to 46,900 pages, made for the Lexmark CX833 and CX950-CX953 multifunction printers.

This is a Lexmark Return Programme cartridge: Lexmark sells it at a lower price under a single-use licence, and the empty cartridge goes back only to Lexmark (free collection) for remanufacturing or recycling.

• The rated 46,900 pages is measured with the ISO test pages, which cover about 5% of each page. Dense graphics, solid areas or photos use more toner, so your real page count can be lower; short text memos can give more.
• Higher-yield cartridges cost more up front but usually work out cheaper per page and mean fewer swaps on busy printers.
• Swapping takes about a minute: open the front door, pull out the empty cartridge, remove the packing and tape from the new one and slide it in until it clicks. The printer reads the chip and shows the remaining level on its panel or web page.
• Colour printers stop or warn when any single colour runs out, so many offices keep a spare of the colour they print most.
• Store spare cartridges sealed in the original bag and box, lying flat, away from heat and direct sunlight, and open them only when you are ready to install.

• It will not fit printers outside the list in the specification table, even if they look similar (for example the CS963 and CX961-963, which take the 77L family).
• It cannot be refilled or re-used: the single-use licence means the cartridge stops after its rated toner and must go back to Lexmark.
• Lexmark cartridges are region-coded: this is the European code and will not work in printers set up for another region.
