Lindy Gold Line HDMI to DVI-D Cable 5 m — Triple Shielded, 24 AWG

HDMI → DVI-D5 m24 AWG OFCTriple shielded

The Lindy 36197 is a 5 m Gold Line cable that connects an HDMI output — PC, laptop, graphics card or media player — to a monitor or projector with a DVI-D input. It uses thick 24 AWG oxygen-free copper conductors and triple shielding (foil plus tinned copper braid) for a clean digital signal.

Metal connector housings, phosphor-bronze contacts plated with 24-carat gold and thumbscrews on the DVI end make it a durable fit for permanent desk and meeting-room setups, backed by Lindy's 25-year limited warranty.

Compatibility note: HDMI and DVI-D carry the same digital video, but DVI does not carry audio — use the monitor's audio input or separate speakers. The DVI connector is single-link (18+1), which limits resolution to around 1920 × 1200 at 60 Hz.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I connect a laptop with HDMI to an older DVI monitor with the Lindy 36197?
Yes. HDMI and DVI-D use the same digital video signal, so the cable connects directly without an adapter or power. Video works up to the single-link DVI limit; sound must go through the laptop speakers or a separate audio cable.
Does the cable work in the other direction, DVI output to HDMI display?
Yes. It is a passive cable, so a DVI-D graphics card or PC can drive an HDMI monitor or TV the same way, again without audio over the link.
Singular Expert Insight
The 36197 is a well-built way to keep a DVI monitor or projector in service with HDMI-only laptops and PCs — the 24 AWG copper and triple shielding are overkill for most desks, which is exactly why it lasts. The 5 m length suits projectors and monitors placed away from the PC.
✓ Buy it if you need a durable HDMI-to-DVI-D link for a monitor or projector at up to 1920 × 1200.
✕ Skip it if you need audio over the same cable or a resolution above 1920 × 1200 — use HDMI or DisplayPort end to end instead.
→ Also consider Lindy Gold Line HDMI to DVI-D in other lengths (36196 at 3 m).
