Lindy 33323 — Internal SATA III Cable, 0.2 m, Straight, Red

0.2 m · Short Internal RunSATA III, Back-Compatible I and IIStraight Both EndsLindy 10 Year Warranty

The Lindy 33323 is a 0.2 metre internal SATA data cable with a 7-pin connector at each end, both straight, in red. It is the cable that connects a motherboard SATA port to a hard drive, an SSD or an optical drive. Lindy states it is compatible with SATA III and backwards compatible with SATA I and II, and describes the construction as shielded twin-ax conductors with multiple ground connections. At 0.2 metres it is deliberately short — the right length for a drive cage sitting close to the board in a compact case, where a longer cable simply becomes something to fold and tuck out of the airflow. It is a data-only cable: the drive still needs a separate power connector from the PSU. Lindy backs it with a published 10 year warranty.

Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a data cable only. A 7-pin SATA connector carries no power. The drive also needs a 15-pin SATA power lead from the power supply, which is not included and is not part of this cable. If you were looking for a combined data and power lead, that is a different Lindy part with different connectors.

Both ends are straight. Lindy sells an otherwise identical 0.2 metre red cable with one right-angled connector under a different part number, and the two are routinely confused in listings because Lindy’s own name for this one carries no angle descriptor. If you need the connector to turn 90 degrees at the drive or the board — usually for side-panel clearance in a slim case — this is not that cable. It is also not a latching cable; Lindy sells the latching version as a separate part number and labels it as such, so the absence of the word here is meaningful.

On speed claims, note what Lindy actually says. Lindy states “compatible with SATA III and backwards compatible with SATA I and II” and publishes no numeric data rate at all — no 6 Gb/s figure, no 600 MB/s figure, and no SATA-IO certification. Several resellers print “6Gbps”, “Serial ATA 150/300/600” or even “SATA II” against this part number; none of those come from Lindy, so we do not repeat them.

Best For

✓ Connecting an SSD, hard drive or optical drive to a motherboard SATA port
✓ Compact builds and small form factor cases where a 0.2 m run is enough and longer cable is just clutter
✓ Drive cages mounted close to the board, or a cable-management scheme where short runs keep airflow clear
✓ Replacing a lost or damaged cable from a motherboard bundle
✓ Colour-coding drives or channels in a build, using the red jacket

Key Features

A 10 year manufacturer warranty on a cable
Lindy publishes a 10 year warranty on this product and states at range level that all its cables carry a minimum 10 year term. Their terms and conditions set it out specifically: ten years on Lindy cables without active components, chips, electrical parts or moving components, which is exactly what this is. That is five times the general EU statutory period, and it is a manufacturer guarantee rather than a retailer promise.

Shielded twin-ax construction
Lindy describes the cable as built from shielded twin-ax conductors with multiple ground connections. That is the whole of the published construction detail — no gauge, no impedance figure, no shielding percentage — but it is more than most cables at this price state at all, and twin-ax with multiple grounds is the right topology for a differential SATA pair.

The right length for a short run
Two hundred millimetres. In a small form factor case, a mini-ITX build or any layout where the drive sits close to the board, a 0.5 or 0.7 metre cable has to be coiled and pushed somewhere, usually into the airflow. A cable cut to the length of the run is tidier and stays out of the way.

Straight connectors at both ends
No angle at either end, which is what you want when there is clearance behind the drive and the board. Lindy makes the right-angled version as a separate part if your case does not give you that clearance.

SATA III with backward compatibility
Lindy states compatibility with SATA III and backwards compatibility with SATA I and II, so it works with current SSDs and with older drives and controllers alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this cable power the drive as well?
No. A 7-pin SATA connector carries data only. The drive also needs a 15-pin SATA power lead from the power supply. Lindy makes combined data and power cables, but those are different part numbers with different connectors.
Is it straight or right-angled?
Straight at both ends. Lindy makes an otherwise identical 0.2 metre red cable with one right-angled connector under a separate part number, and the two get confused in listings because Lindy's name for this one carries no angle descriptor. If you need a 90 degree turn for side-panel clearance, ask us for the angled part instead.
Is it a latching cable?
No. Lindy sells a latching 0.2 metre version as a distinct part and labels it explicitly, so the absence of the word on this one is meaningful rather than an omission. A non-latching cable still works in a latching port; it simply will not lock.
Is it rated for 6 Gb/s?
Lindy states only that it is compatible with SATA III and backwards compatible with SATA I and II. It publishes no numeric data rate and claims no SATA-IO certification, so we do not print a 6 Gb/s or 600 MB/s figure. Several resellers do; those numbers do not come from the manufacturer. Some listings even label this part SATA II, which contradicts Lindy's own SATA III statement.
Is 0.2 m long enough?
It depends on your case. Two hundred millimetres suits a drive sitting close to the motherboard, which is the normal arrangement in small form factor and mini-ITX builds. If the drive cage is at the front of a full tower, measure first — the same cable is made in 0.5 m and 0.7 m.
What is the warranty?
Lindy publishes a 10 year warranty on this cable, and their terms specify ten years on all Lindy cables without active components, chips, electrical parts or moving components. That is a manufacturer guarantee. Our own store warranty is one year, and both run in parallel with your statutory rights.
Singular Expert Insight
There is not a great deal to say about a twenty centimetre SATA cable, and that is rather the point — but two things make this one worth choosing deliberately rather than grabbing whatever is in the bin.

The first is the warranty. Lindy publishes ten years on this cable, and their terms and conditions are specific about why: ten years applies to Lindy cables with no active components, no chips, no electrical parts and no moving parts, which describes a passive SATA lead exactly. Ten years on a component costing less than a coffee is not really about the replacement value; it is a statement about the failure rate the manufacturer expects. A SATA cable that intermittently drops a drive is one of the more infuriating faults to diagnose, because it presents as a failing disk, and the usual first response is to replace the disk. Buying a cable from a manufacturer willing to stand behind it for a decade is cheap insurance against spending an afternoon on that.

The second is length discipline. The default instinct is to buy long and coil the excess, and in a modern small case that is a mistake. Half a metre of coiled cable behind a drive cage sits directly in the intake path and it is one of the few genuinely avoidable causes of poor airflow in a compact build. Two hundred millimetres is chosen, not compromised — it reaches from a board-side port to a drive mounted near it and does nothing else.

Where you need to be careful is the part number. Lindy’s straight and right-angled cables are the same length and the same red, and Lindy’s own product name for the straight one carries no angle descriptor at all, so distributor listings drift between them constantly. The same is true of the latching variant. We have checked this part against Lindy’s own catalogue: 33323 is straight at both ends and non-latching. If your case demands a 90 degree connector or your controller uses latching ports, tell us and we will supply the correct part rather than the nearest one.

One last note on the specification. Lindy publishes remarkably little about the cable itself — shielded twin-ax conductors with multiple ground connections, and nothing more. No gauge, no impedance, no shielding coverage, no jacket material. That is normal at this level and it is not a criticism, but it does mean that any listing quoting a certified 6 Gb/s rating for this part has invented it. Lindy says compatible with SATA III, and that is all we will say too.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

Buy the 33323 when you need a short, tidy internal SATA data run — typically an SSD or drive mounted close to the motherboard in a compact case. Confirm three things before ordering: that 0.2 m actually reaches, that you have straight-connector clearance at both ends rather than needing the 90 degree version, and that you have a separate SATA power lead for the drive, because this cable does not carry power. If any of those is not the case, ask us and we will point you at the right Lindy part.

Skip it if

You need a right-angled connector for side-panel clearance, you need a latching cable for a latching controller port, or you need power as well as data — all three are separate Lindy part numbers. Also skip it if 0.2 m will not reach; the same cable is made in 0.5 m and 0.7 m.

Also consider

The same straight cable is made in 0.5 m and 0.7 m for longer runs. Lindy’s right-angled versions have one 90 degree connector for tight side-panel clearance, in the same three lengths. A latching 0.2 m version is available for latching controller ports. If you need power as well as data on one lead, Lindy makes combined internal data and power cables in 0.3 m and 0.5 m, and a SATA power to LP4 adapter for older drives. This is the cable you need when fitting an internal SSD or a desktop or laptop hard drive.
