Apple Mac mini (2026) · M5 Pro · 24GB · 1TB SSD

M5 Pro 15-core CPU16-core GPU24GB unified memory1TB SSD

The Apple Mac mini (2026) in this configuration is a 12.7 cm square desktop built on the M5 Pro chip with a 15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 24GB of unified memory and a 1TB SSD, aimed at developers, photographers, video editors and designers who want pro-level performance and Thunderbolt 5 in the smallest Mac desktop.

This is a configure-to-order (CTO) build based on the standard M5 Pro Mac mini (Apple base MHQN4, 24GB, 512GB). It keeps the 24GB memory and standard 2.5Gb Ethernet and doubles the internal SSD from 512GB to 1TB. Compared with the M6 Mac mini, the M5 Pro brings more CPU and GPU cores, twice the memory bandwidth (307GB/s) and Thunderbolt 5 instead of Thunderbolt 4.

Before you order: Memory and storage are part of the Apple silicon design and cannot be upgraded after purchase. 24GB covers most pro workflows; for large local AI models, heavy 3D or many virtual machines ask us about the 48GB or 64GB configurations before ordering. No display, keyboard or mouse is included.

What's in the Box

  • Mac mini (M5 Pro, 15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 24GB, 1TB SSD)
  • Power cord (1.8 m)
  • No display, keyboard, mouse or trackpad — these are sold separately

What It Means in Practice

  • 15-core CPU (5 super cores + 10 performance cores) speeds up code compiles, photo exports and video encodes compared with the M6 Mac mini.
  • 16-core GPU with hardware ray tracing and Neural Accelerators handles 4K and 8K timelines in Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve, and 3D work in Blender.
  • Three Thunderbolt 5 ports (up to 120Gb/s) connect fast external SSDs, RAID arrays and Thunderbolt 5 docks at full speed.
  • Up to three external displays at 6K 60Hz or 4K 165Hz — or one 8K/5K 120Hz panel plus a second display.
  • 24GB of unified memory with 307GB/s bandwidth runs Xcode, Docker, Lightroom and Photoshop side by side.
  • Two front USB-C ports and the headphone jack keep everyday connections within reach; it is near-silent at idle.

What Will Not Work

  • It has no built-in screen, keyboard or mouse — you need your own monitor and input devices.
  • RAM and SSD cannot be upgraded later; 24GB is fixed for the life of the machine.
  • There are no USB-A ports and no SD card slot — older USB-A devices and cameras need a USB-C adapter or a hub/dock.
  • Ethernet is 2.5Gb, not 10Gb (10Gb was a separate factory option).
  • Windows cannot be installed natively (no Boot Camp on Apple silicon); Windows on Arm only through virtualisation such as Parallels Desktop. External GPUs (eGPU) are not supported.
  • Do not confuse it with the base MHQN4 (24GB, 512GB) or the M6 Mac mini — this unit is the M5 Pro 15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 24GB, 1TB configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions

M5 Pro or M6 Mac mini?
The M6 is enough for office and everyday creative work. The M5 Pro adds more CPU and GPU cores, twice the memory bandwidth, Thunderbolt 5 and memory options up to 64GB — choose it for development, video, 3D and fast external storage.
Is 24GB enough?
For development, photo work and 4K/8K editing, yes. For large local AI models or many VMs, 48GB or 64GB is better — memory cannot be added later.
Can I connect my USB-A keyboard, mouse or printer?
Yes, through a USB-C to USB-A adapter or a USB-C hub/dock — there are no USB-A ports on this Mac mini.
Which plug does the power cord have?
The cord supplied depends on the region of the unit; tell us if you need a specific plug type and we will confirm before ordering.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The M5 Pro Mac mini is the sweet spot between the everyday M6 Mac mini and a Mac Studio: pro CPU and GPU, Thunderbolt 5 and 307GB/s bandwidth in a 12.7 cm box. This configuration doubles storage to 1TB so apps and active projects stay internal. Pair it with one of our PC monitors — a 5K or 6K panel gets the most out of macOS scaling.
✓ Buy it if you develop software, edit photo or video, or work in 3D and want pro performance and Thunderbolt 5 in a compact desktop.
✕ Skip it if you only need office and browsing — the M6 Mac mini costs less — or you need 10Gb Ethernet or more than 24GB of memory.
→ Also consider the M5 Pro Mac mini with 48GB/64GB or 18-core CPU/20-core GPU, the M6 Mac mini for everyday work, or the Mac Studio for workstation-class GPU.
Not sure which configuration fits? Tell us the software you use and we will recommend memory and storage before you order.
