M5 Pro 15-core CPU16-core GPU48GB unified memory1TB SSD
The Apple Mac mini (2026) in this configuration is a 12.7 cm square desktop built on the M5 Pro chip with a 15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 48GB of unified memory and a 1TB SSD, aimed at developers, AI and data users, video editors and designers who need generous memory and Thunderbolt 5 in the smallest Mac desktop.
This is a configure-to-order (CTO) build based on the standard M5 Pro Mac mini (Apple base MHQN4, 24GB, 512GB). It doubles memory from 24GB to 48GB and storage from 512GB to 1TB, keeping the standard 2.5Gb Ethernet. Compared with the M6 Mac mini, the M5 Pro brings more CPU and GPU cores, twice the memory bandwidth (307GB/s) and Thunderbolt 5 instead of Thunderbolt 4.
Before you order: Memory and storage are part of the Apple silicon design and cannot be upgraded after purchase. 48GB is a comfortable amount for local AI models, virtual machines and heavy creative work; if you need the absolute maximum, ask us about the 64GB configuration before ordering. No display, keyboard or mouse is included.
What's in the Box
- Mac mini (M5 Pro, 15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 48GB, 1TB SSD)
- Power cord (1.8 m)
- No display, keyboard, mouse or trackpad — these are sold separately
What It Means in Practice
- 48GB of unified memory with 307GB/s bandwidth runs mid-to-large local language models, several virtual machines, Docker stacks and Xcode builds at the same time.
- 15-core CPU (5 super cores + 10 performance cores) speeds up code compiles, photo exports and video encodes compared with the M6 Mac mini.
- 16-core GPU with hardware ray tracing and Neural Accelerators handles 4K and 8K timelines in Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve, and 3D work in Blender.
- Three Thunderbolt 5 ports (up to 120Gb/s) connect fast external SSDs, RAID arrays and Thunderbolt 5 docks at full speed.
- Up to three external displays at 6K 60Hz or 4K 165Hz — or one 8K/5K 120Hz panel plus a second display.
- Two front USB-C ports and the headphone jack keep everyday connections within reach; it is near-silent at idle.
What Will Not Work
- It has no built-in screen, keyboard or mouse — you need your own monitor and input devices.
- RAM and SSD cannot be upgraded later; plan storage growth with Thunderbolt 5 external drives or a NAS.
- There are no USB-A ports and no SD card slot — older USB-A devices and cameras need a USB-C adapter or a hub/dock.
- Ethernet is 2.5Gb, not 10Gb (10Gb was a separate factory option).
- Windows cannot be installed natively (no Boot Camp on Apple silicon); Windows on Arm only through virtualisation such as Parallels Desktop. External GPUs (eGPU) are not supported.
- Do not confuse it with the base MHQN4 (24GB, 512GB) or the M6 Mac mini — this unit is the M5 Pro 15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 48GB, 1TB configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need 48GB?
If you run local AI models, several virtual machines, large Xcode or Docker projects or heavy After Effects work, yes — 48GB avoids slowdowns that 24GB would hit. For office, photo and typical video editing, 24GB is enough.
M5 Pro or M6 Mac mini?
The M6 is enough for office and everyday creative work. The M5 Pro adds more CPU and GPU cores, twice the memory bandwidth, Thunderbolt 5 and memory options up to 64GB.
Can I connect my USB-A keyboard, mouse or printer?
Yes, through a USB-C to USB-A adapter or a USB-C hub/dock — there are no USB-A ports on this Mac mini.
Which plug does the power cord have?
The cord supplied depends on the region of the unit; tell us if you need a specific plug type and we will confirm before ordering.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
This is the memory-first M5 Pro Mac mini: 48GB of fast unified memory with Thunderbolt 5 in a 12.7 cm box, which makes it a strong, quiet machine for developers and local AI work without stepping up to a Mac Studio. Keep projects on the 1TB SSD and archives on Thunderbolt 5 storage or a NAS. Pair it with one of our
PC monitors — a 5K or 6K panel gets the most out of macOS scaling.
✓ Buy it if you run local AI, virtual machines or large development and creative projects and want lots of memory in a compact, quiet desktop.
✕ Skip it if you only need office, photo or typical video work — the 24GB model costs less — or you need 10Gb Ethernet or a much stronger GPU.
→ Also consider the M5 Pro Mac mini with 24GB or 64GB, the 18-core CPU/20-core GPU M5 Pro, or the Mac Studio for workstation-class GPU.
