Access compatible contact smart cards through USB-C or USB-A
USB-C / USB-A combo maleContact smart cards1m cableUSB bus powered
The Manhattan 102759 connects contact smart cards to a compatible computer through USB-C / USB-A combo male. The attachable USB-C connector and USB-A plug let the same reader connect to either supported host port. Its integrated 1m cable, USB bus power and power/activity LED make it a compact desktop connection. The maximum USB host communication rate is 12Mbps; card and application performance can be lower.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Check the card’s contact interface, protocol and required application before purchase. Supported host systems are Windows XP/Vista/7/8.1/10/11, macOS, Linux. Drivers normally install automatically; the manual directs users to the appropriate official driver if they do not. SIM reading requires a separate bracket. Card middleware, credentials and service-specific requirements still apply.
Best For
✓ Compatible contact-card authentication
✓ Supported access and identification applications
✓ Computers with USB-C or USB-A ports
Key Features
Contact smart-card standards
CPU-card support includes ISO 7816-1/2/3/4, T=0/T=1, PC/SC 1.0/2.0 and EMV 4.1, with JCOP4 card-system support. These are interface capabilities, not a guarantee for every issued card.
Synchronous memory-card support
Supported interfaces include 2-line, 3-line and I2C with SLE4418/4428/4432/4442, AT88SC1608 and 45D041 examples. These smart-card formats should not be confused with SD storage cards.
USB-powered installation
The reader needs no external power supply. It is specified at 60mA maximum consumption, with an integrated 1m cable and an LED for power and activity. Automatic driver installation depends on the host environment.
Extended APDU and documented endurance
The AU9580 chipset supports extended APDU exchange. The manufacturer lists 200,000 IC-card cycles; this endurance specification is separate from warranty terms.

Instructions
What Will Not Work
Contactless NFC cards require a different reader.
SIM cards need an appropriate bracket, which is not supplied.
The card issuer’s software and credentials may be required; not every eID or banking application is guaranteed.
It does not provide a microSD or SD storage slot.
The combo connector is for host selection, not an extra USB hub port.
USB 2.0 host communication is specified up to 12Mbps for this model, not 480Mbps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Singular Expert Insight
Start with the card issuer’s requirements: contact or contactless interface, supported protocols, operating system and middleware. Then match the host connector and any memory-card slot you need. A reader’s standards list alone does not establish compatibility with a particular service. Ask Singular about connector and installation compatibility
