Manhattan SuperSpeed USB-C to USB-A OTG Cable — 5 Gbit/s, 15 cm

USB 3.2 Gen 15 Gbit/sC male → A female15 cm

The Manhattan 353540 is a USB-C (male) to USB-A (female) OTG cable (15 cm) with 5 Gbit/s data transfer. It lets you plug ordinary USB-A devices — flash drives, card readers, keyboards, mice, external drives, MIDI keyboards — into a phone, tablet, laptop or handheld console that only has USB-C ports.

OTG (On-The-Go) means the USB-C device acts as the host and powers what you plug in. Almost every current laptop, MacBook, iPad with USB-C and Android phone supports it; on older phones check that USB OTG is enabled in the settings.

Before you order: Direction matters: the USB-C end plugs into your computer, phone or tablet; the USB-A socket takes the device. It does not let a USB-C device plug into a USB-A computer port.

What's in the Box

  • 1 × Manhattan SuperSpeed USB-C device cable (USB-C male to USB-A female), 15 cm, blue

What It Means in Practice

  • The 15 cm cable takes the strain off the port: a heavy USB stick or reader hangs from the cable, not from the USB-C socket of a thin laptop or tablet.
  • At 5 Gbit/s a USB 3 flash drive, external hard drive or SATA SSD runs at its own full speed — roughly 400+ MB/s for an SSD — rather than being held back by the adapter.
  • Power for the attached device comes from the USB-C port: a bus-powered 2.5" hard drive may need more than a phone can supply — laptops are fine.
  • Plug-and-play on Windows, macOS, iPadOS, Android, ChromeOS and Linux — no driver for the adapter itself.

What Will Not Work

  • No video: a USB-A device cannot output video, and the adapter does not add DisplayPort.
  • It is not a charger adapter: you cannot plug a USB-C phone into a USB-A charger with it (that needs the opposite, USB-A male to USB-C female).
  • No USB Power Delivery pass-through — the computer cannot be charged through it.
  • Not the same as a short USB-C to USB-C cable or a USB-A to USB-C cable — check that you need a USB-A socket.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a USB stick work on my iPhone 15 or newer?
Yes for photos and files via the Files app, as long as the stick is formatted exFAT or FAT32 (NTFS is read-only or unsupported on iOS). Very power-hungry drives may not start from a phone.
Can I connect a USB hub to it?
Yes. A small USB-A hub works; use a powered hub if you connect several drives or power-hungry devices.
Does it work with a MacBook?
Yes — any MacBook, Mac mini, iMac or iPad with USB-C or Thunderbolt ports accepts it as a standard USB connection.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
A short cable adapter is gentler on thin laptops and tablets than a rigid plug-in adapter, because the USB-A device does not lever on the USB-C port. At 5 Gbit/s and with a 3 A rating it suits USB 3 sticks, readers and drives — see our USB flash drives for matching storage.
✓ Buy it if you want to use USB-A sticks, readers or drives on a USB-C laptop or tablet without stressing the port.
✕ Skip it if you need several USB-A ports at once — a hub is the better choice.
→ Also consider A USB-C hub if you need several USB-A ports at once; a USB-C flash drive if you only need storage.
