The MSI SPATIUM M461 2TB (part number S78-440Q550-P83) is a PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD rated up to 5,000 MB/s read and 4,200 MB/s write — an affordable upgrade for everyday PCs, laptops and mini PCs.

It uses the low-power Phison E21T controller with 3D NAND in a DRAM-less design (Host Memory Buffer), which keeps cost and heat down while still being several times faster than a SATA SSD.

Compatibility note: DRAM-less design: very long sustained writes (large file copies) can slow once the cache fills — for heavy editing work a DRAM drive such as the SPATIUM M480 PRO is the better fit. Works in PCIe 3.0 slots at about 3,500 MB/s.
