The NETGEAR EAX12 is a Nighthawk wall-plug mesh extender rated AX1600: four streams of Wi-Fi 6 delivering 1.2 Gbps on 5 GHz and 0.4 Gbps on 2.4 GHz. Unlike ordinary extenders it uses NETGEAR’s One WiFi Name with smart roaming, so the extended area shares the same network name and password as the router and devices move between them without being asked. A full Gigabit Ethernet port serves a wired device at the far end, and the whole unit plugs directly into a socket with no adapter.
Compatibility — check before buying:
One correction worth making before you order: the EAX12 is AX1600, not AX1800. Some catalogue listings conflate the two, but AX1800 is the EAX15, a separate model — the only difference between them is 200 Mbps more on the 2.4 GHz band. Everything else, including the four streams, the two internal antennas, the Gigabit port and the wall-plug body, is the same. Two further points: NETGEAR publishes no coverage figure for this model, and there is no pass-through mains socket. NETGEAR also publishes no Armor security subscription for its extenders, so do not expect one here.
