Pattex Classic Contact Adhesive — 650 g Tin
650 g tinContact adhesive−40 to +110 °CToluene-free
Pattex Classic (Kraftkleber Classic, trade code PCL6C) is a 650 g tin of solvent-based polychloroprene contact adhesive for strong, permanent bonds between wood, wood-based boards, HPL laminate, veneer and edging, rubber, leather, cork, felt, rigid PVC and metal.
Like every contact adhesive it is applied thinly to both surfaces, left to flash off, then pressed together — the bond grabs immediately and reaches final strength after about 3 days. It is toluene-free and stays heat-resistant up to +110 °C, which is why it is a workshop standard for worktops, laminate edging and rubber profiles.
Before you order: Pattex Classic does NOT bond polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), soft PVC such as faux leather, PTFE/Teflon or polystyrene foam (Styropor/EPS) — the solvent attacks or will not grip these materials.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Pattex Classic contact adhesive, 650 g tin
- No spreader or spatula included — use a fine-toothed spatula
What It Means in Practice
- Coverage is about 250–350 g/m² applied to both surfaces, so one 650 g tin covers roughly 2 m² of bonded area
- Flash-off around 10–15 minutes at room temperature, then up to 60 minutes open time to position and press
- Positioning is not forgiving: once the surfaces touch, they grab — align carefully
- Heat resistance from −40 °C to +110 °C suits kitchen worktops and edging near appliances
What Will Not Work
- PE, PP, soft PVC, PTFE or polystyrene foam
- Wet, greasy or dusty surfaces — they must be dry, clean and grease-free
- Gap filling — contact adhesive needs two close-fitting surfaces
- Use near open flames or without ventilation — it is solvent-based and flammable

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I glue polystyrene insulation with it?
No. Polystyrene foam (Styropor/EPS) is attacked by the solvent. Use a solvent-free adhesive instead.
Can I reposition after pressing?
No — contact adhesive grabs on contact. Use spacers or careful alignment before pressing.
How much area does 650 g cover?
About 2 m² of bonded surface at 250–350 g/m² applied to both sides.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Contact adhesives are unbeatable for laminate, edging and rubber, but they are unforgiving: both sides, flash-off, then one chance to align. Check the materials first — PE, PP and polystyrene are the classic failures. For smaller jobs Pattex sells the same glue in 50–300 g sizes. More office and workshop supplies are in our
office stationery range.
✓ Buy it if you bond laminate, wood, rubber, leather or metal and need a strong, heat-resistant permanent joint.
✕ Skip it if you are gluing PE, PP, soft PVC or polystyrene, or need to reposition parts after joining.
→ Also consider Smaller Pattex Classic tins (50 g / 125 g / 300 g) for occasional use.
