PLANET POE-162S — 12 V or 24 V DC from a PoE+ port
IEEE 802.3at input12 V / 24 V DCGigabitWall-mountable
The PLANET POE-162S is a Gigabit PoE+ splitter that takes IEEE 802.3at power from a PoE switch or injector and converts it into a 12 V or 24 V DC supply plus a separate Gigabit data port. It powers one non-PoE device — a camera, wireless bridge, small switch or controller — over a single Ethernet cable.
A DIP switch selects 12 V / 2 A or 24 V / 1 A. The splitter accepts 52–56 V DC PoE input up to 25.5 W, is compatible with 802.3af sources, and passes data at 10/100/1000 Mbps for up to 100 m. The compact plastic housing sits on a desk or mounts on a wall.
Before you order: Check the DIP switch before connecting — 24 V on a 12 V device will damage it. PLANET does not publish the DC plug size, so tell us your device model and we will confirm the fit.
What's in the Box
- POE-162S PoE+ splitter
- Further package contents are not published by PLANET
What It Means in Practice
- 24 V output is the less common option that many splitters lack — useful for some wireless bridges, PTZ cameras and industrial devices.
- With an 802.3at source you get the full output; an 802.3af injector supplies less power.
- One Cat5e/Cat6 cable up to 100 m replaces local power at the device.
- Pairs naturally with PLANET 802.3at injectors such as the POE-163.
What Will Not Work
- It does not output 5 V, 9 V or 48 V.
- It does not create PoE — a PoE switch or injector is needed upstream.
- It does not pass PoE through to a PoE device.
- It is not weatherproof.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I power a 24 V wireless bridge?
Yes, up to 1 A at 24 V, provided the bridge accepts a DC plug input rather than passive PoE.
Do I need a PoE+ switch?
For the full 25.5 W, yes. An 802.3af source works for smaller loads.
Is there an industrial version?
PLANET also makes the IPOE-162S for harsh environments; it is a different product.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Choose this splitter when your non-PoE device needs 12 V or 24 V and you already have PoE+ at the switch. Confirm the DC plug before ordering — send us the device model. For cameras with native PoE, see our
IP cameras.
✓ Buy it if you need 12 V or 24 V DC plus Gigabit data at a device without PoE.
✕ Skip it if the device needs 5 V or 9 V, or already takes PoE.
→ Also consider the PLANET POE-163 802.3at injector as the matching power source.
Not sure it fits your setup? Send us the model of your rack, switch or device and we will check compatibility before you order.
