The PLANET POE-171S is a Gigabit Ultra PoE splitter that takes power and data from one Ethernet cable and splits them into a Gigabit RJ45 data port and a DC output of 12 V, 19 V or 24 V, for up to 50 W. It lets you install a non-PoE device — a PTZ camera, thin client, all-in-one touch PC or small signage display — up to 100 m from the switch without a power socket at the device.
Choose the output voltage with the DIP switch, connect the device with one of the two supplied DC cables and its network port to the data output.
Before you order: The 50 W level needs a 4-pair 56 V Ultra PoE source such as PLANET POE-171 (60 W injector). A standard 802.3at (PoE+) source can only provide its own lower budget, so check your device consumption against the source before ordering.

What It Means in Practice
- A non-PoE device that needs 12 V, 19 V or 24 V can be mounted where there is only a network cable.
- 19 V suits many thin clients and small PCs; 12 V and 24 V cover most cameras and industrial devices — set the switch before connecting.
- The two DC cables cover the common 5.5/2.5 mm and 5.5/2.1 mm plugs.
- Gigabit data passes through unchanged on the second RJ45.
What Will Not Work
- Devices with other DC plugs or voltages (5 V, 9 V, 48 V) are not supported directly.
- It does not create power: with a 30 W PoE+ source you cannot draw 50 W.
- It is not an injector — you still need a PoE switch or injector at the other end.
- Passive PoE sources are not covered by PLANET’s specifications.
