The ProLabs JD094B-C is a 10 Gbit SFP+ transceiver for single-mode fibre, reaching up to 10 km at 1310 nm over an LC duplex connection, with digital optical monitoring. ProLabs codes it as the HPE X130 JD094B, the long-reach 10G optic for HPE switches running Comware software, and it is a lower-cost way to add 10G links between buildings on those switches. In practice, single-mode optics are the choice when a link leaves the building or runs several hundred metres: the OS2 fibre used by carriers and campus backbones carries the signal for kilometres with little loss. Before you order, confirm the fibre is single-mode at both ends and note the length and the number of patch panels on the way.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The JD094B coding is for HPE Comware switches (FlexNetwork, FlexFabric). It is not the part for Aruba ProVision or CX switches, which expect J9151D/E, nor for Instant On. It needs single-mode fibre; for multimode runs the Comware SR part is JD092B. ProLabs also sells BiDi versions (JD094B-BXU-C / -BXD-C) — this -C is the standard two-fibre LR. Keep the dust cap on until you connect the fibre, and clean both connector ends before every mating — dirt is the most common cause of a link that will not come up. Not sure?
