The ASUS QG-U1080 is an 8-port 2.5G unmanaged switch with two 10G SFP+ uplinks, an affordable step up to multi-gig networking for homes and offices. Its eight 2.5-Gigabit ports connect NAS, PCs and Wi-Fi access points at full speed, while the pair of 10G SFP+ slots handle high-speed fibre uplinks to a server or core switch. Compatibility — check before buying:
This is an unmanaged switch (with four preset intelligent modes) — there is no full web management, VLAN configuration or CLI. It does not provide PoE. The 2.5G ports auto-negotiate down to 1G/100M; to reach 2.5G you need 2.5G-capable devices and Cat 5e or better cabling. The two 10G SFP+ slots need separate SFP+ transceivers or DAC cables (sold separately).
