QNAP TRX-16GFCSFP-SR — 16Gb Fibre Channel SFP+ Short-Wavelength Multimode Transceiver
16GFC SFP+Short wavelength · LCOM4 up to 125 m16 / 8 / 4 GFC
The QNAP TRX-16GFCSFP-SR is a 16Gb Fibre Channel SFP+ transceiver for short-wavelength multimode fibre with a duplex LC connector. It is the QNAP-certified optic for the QNAP QXP-16G2FC dual-port 16Gb Fibre Channel card, used to connect a QNAP NAS to a Fibre Channel SAN switch or directly to FC hosts.
The module runs at 14.025, 8.5 and 4.25 Gbps (16GFC, 8GFC and 4GFC), so it also links to older 8G and 4G Fibre Channel equipment. QNAP's cable guide gives up to 125 m on OM4, 100 m on OM3 and 35 m on OM2 fibre at 16 Gbps; OM1 is not supported.
Before you order: QNAP states that only QNAP-certified transceivers are supported in its Fibre Channel cards. This is a Fibre Channel optic — it is not an Ethernet SFP+ and will not work in 10GbE switch ports or NICs. The QXP-16G2FC card already ships with two of these modules; buy this item as a spare or for additional links.
What's in the Box
- 1 × QNAP TRX-16GFCSFP-SR 16GFC SFP+ transceiver
- Fibre patch cords are not included
What It Means in Practice
- Use it to add or replace an optic in a QNAP QXP-16G2FC card in a supported QNAP NAS.
- Use OM3 or OM4 multimode LC patch cords; OM4 gives the full 125 m at 16 Gbps.
- Tri-rate support lets a 16G port connect to an existing 8G or 4G FC switch during a migration.
- Keep a spare on site: a failed optic is the most common cause of a down FC path.
What Will Not Work
- It will not work in Ethernet (10GbE) SFP+ ports.
- It will not work on single-mode fibre or OM1 multimode.
- It is not supported by QNAP in third-party FC HBAs, and third-party optics are not supported in QNAP FC cards.
- QNAP does not publish DDM/DOM support for this module.

Does the QXP-16G2FC card include transceivers?
Yes, QNAP ships the QXP-16G2FC with two TRX-16GFCSFP-SR modules. This item is for spares or replacements.
Can I use OM3 fibre?
Yes — up to 100 m at 16 Gbps on OM3, per QNAP's cable guide.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
For Fibre Channel on
QNAP NAS, stay with QNAP-certified optics: it is the only combination QNAP supports, and it removes one variable when troubleshooting a SAN path. Pair the module with OM4 LC patch cords for full reach.
✓ Buy it if you run a QNAP QXP-16G2FC Fibre Channel card and need a spare or additional 16GFC SW optic.
✕ Skip it if you need an Ethernet SFP+ module, single-mode reach, or an optic for a non-QNAP HBA.
→ Also consider The QNAP QXP-16G2FC card itself, which includes two of these transceivers.
Send us your NAS model, FC card and switch model and we will confirm the optic and cabling before you order.
