Rackmount.IT RM-FR-T18 — 2U Rack Kit for FortiGate 80F-POE & FortiWiFi 80F-2R
FortiRack 2UFront pass-through portsSignal White RAL 9003Made in the Netherlands
The Rackmount.IT RM-FR-T18 is a 19 inch, 2U FortiRack mounting kit that turns a desktop Fortinet FortiGate 80F-POE, 81F-POE, 80F-DSL or FortiWiFi 80F/81F-2R into a clean rack-mounted firewall, with its network, fibre and USB connections brought out to the front panel. It is built for IT teams and integrators who want branch or SMB firewalls to sit neatly in a comms cabinet instead of on a shelf.
The appliance sits on a custom-cut tray, is fixed with two bolts from underneath after its rubber feet are removed, and its external power supplies are strapped into the kit. Short patch cables link the appliance ports to keystone couplers on the faceplate, so day-to-day patching happens at the front of the rack while the firewall LEDs stay visible.
Before you order: This kit is designed for the PoE, DSL and Wi-Fi variants of the FortiGate/FortiWiFi 80F family only. The plain FortiGate 80F and 81F (non-PoE) are not on Rackmount.IT's compatibility list — check the exact model on your appliance label before ordering, or send it to us and we will confirm.
What's in the Box
- RM-FR-T18 2U mounting tray with faceplate (Signal White, RAL 9003)
- Front keystone pass-throughs: 11 × RJ-45, 2 × duplex fibre, 1 × USB-A
- Internal patch cabling from the appliance to the front couplers
- Fixing bolts for the appliance and cable ties for up to two power supplies
- Not included: the Fortinet appliance itself, fibre patch cables for the SFP ports and SMA antenna extension cables for FortiWiFi models
What It Means in Practice
- Occupies 2U of a standard 19 inch rack; overall depth is about 217 mm, so it fits shallow wall cabinets as well as full-depth racks.
- All copper ports, the two fibre links and USB are patched at the front — no reaching behind the cabinet to move a cable.
- The appliance and its external PSUs are secured, so nothing slides around when the cabinet door is opened or the rack is moved.
- FortiWiFi models: the faceplate has punch-out holes for SMA antenna connectors, so antennas can be mounted at the front.
What Will Not Work
- It will not fit other Fortinet families (60E/60F/70F/70G use the 1U RM-FR-T10 or RM-FR-T10I kits).
- The standard non-PoE FortiGate 80F and 81F are not listed as compatible.
- It does not add power distribution or cooling — follow Fortinet's ventilation guidance for the cabinet.
- SFP modules, fibre patch cords and antenna extension cables are not supplied.
Key Features
Front-panel access
Eleven RJ-45, two duplex fibre and one USB-A keystone bring every port you normally use to the front of the rack.
Appliance and PSU secured
The firewall is bolted to the tray and up to two external power supplies are held with cable ties.
Fast installation
Rackmount.IT quotes a few minutes of assembly: remove the rubber feet, bolt the appliance in, connect the internal cables.
Clean, labelled front
Signal-white faceplate keeps the firewall LEDs visible and makes the port layout obvious to anyone working on the rack.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this 1.3U or 2U?
Rackmount.IT publishes the RM-FR-T18 as a 2U kit (88 mm high). Plan 2U of rack space.
Do I need to open the FortiGate?
No. You only remove the rubber feet and fix the appliance to the tray with the supplied bolts underneath; the Fortinet warranty seal is not touched.
Can I use my SFP ports?
Yes — the two fibre keystones on the front are linked internally, but you need your own fibre patch cables and SFP modules.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The value of a FortiRack kit is not the metal — it is that every port you patch is at the front, and the appliance and its power bricks can no longer drift around the cabinet. For a FortiGate 80F-POE or FortiWiFi 80F-2R this is the tidiest way into a 19 inch rack; plan the rest of the cabinet with our
rack accessories.
✓ Buy it if you run a FortiGate 80F-POE/81F-POE/80F-DSL or FortiWiFi 80F/81F-2R and want it rack-mounted with front access.
✕ Skip it if your firewall is a plain FG-80F/81F or a 60F/70F/70G — those need a different kit.
→ Also consider Rackmount.IT RM-FR-T10I (1U) for FortiGate 60E/60F/70F/70G series.
