The REINER SCT timeCard external RFID reader V3 (article 2716050-103) is the door reader of the timeCard access control system. It is mounted next to a door and reads timeCard ID cards and transponders using MIFARE DESFire EV1 and EV2 at 13.56 MHz; a four-colour LED backlight and a piezo buzzer confirm each read. It is not a standalone device: it works as a slave on an RS-422 line and takes both its power and its data from a timeCard Terminal 3 or a timeCard accessbox, up to 50 m away. The anthracite housing is about 91 × 91 × 22 mm and 100 g, in two parts with a snap-in terminal strip. In practice it is the reader you place at each controlled door.

Compatibility — check before buying:
It needs a timeCard controller. REINER SCT lists the timeCard Terminal 3 and the timeCard accessbox (and the discontinued Multiterminal RFID DES) as the devices that power and control it — on its own, or on another brand’s system, it does nothing. It reads only timeCard DESFire cards and transponders. Protection rating: the datasheet states IP54 while the product page states IP66, so outdoors plan a sheltered position. Not sure?
